Not a whole lot here, though I was kinda surprised to see them predicting OHIO to have two conference losses, most of the predictions I have seen are Temple and OHIO with the same record, but Temple owning the head to head win.  Also love how Terrance McCrae is now Terrance McCray?!?

I gave up on SI years ago.  The only writer they have who is worth a damn is Peter King (an OU product, natch).

Sports Illustrated has always had the absolute weakest college previews. If you give a damn about anything other than the 5 biggest football factories in the country, then their stuff is of little value.

What's weird is that Peter King is hated nearly equally (though in a different way) to Mariotti, something I have never understood. Obviously having met the man (and having been the beneficiary of a free beer by his courtesy) taints my objectivism but really, why do people rip him so much?

I've always liked Peter King, I read his MMQB pretty regularly. He's been good about giving a shout out to his alma mater, spoke at graduation a couple of years ago (and mentioned it in MMQB a couple of times) and was seen sporting an OHIO polo shirt on ESPN recently. He and Matt Lauer have been good about showing us love, so he's ok in my book, even if he does get on QBs jocks a little too much (Farve, Payton, Brady, et al).

As for SI's overall poor coverage- agreed 100%.

SI's college football preview is nothing but pretty pictures and bright colors. Get something worth a damn like Phil Steele or Athlon. Although last year I believe SI picked Ohio to win the East, must've gotten lucky.
