I was wondering how Landon Cohen was faring in holding on to his job. He did start 4 games last year, but this year is competing against another Carl Pelini coached lineman, Ndamukong Suh, the second overall pick in the draft. In this article from May, Cohen talks about beating out Suh.

In this current Depth chart, Cohen is listed as second string at one DT and 3rd string at the other. It's looking to me like he won't start unless there is an injury, but he'll stick with the team and get some PT. Here's a photo:

Cohen was waived by the Lions!  Fourtunately it was Joe Cohen and not Landon!

Got to watch him play against the Steelers in last weeks pre-season game. He got a good bit of playing time with the 2nd team and had some good push against the Steelers o-lines. Landon being Landon did jump offsides on at least 2 occasions though, so you can never deny his aggressiveness. Hope he continues to stick. The Lions have made some big-money investments in their D line over the last year with Suh and VanderBosch.

Landon was second on the team with three tackles (including one sack) in last night's win over Denver.

They actually showed the Lions preseason game against Denver on a Toledo station. I caught just a few plays at the end, but Cohen made a nice tackle and the announcers were pretty complimentary of him. However, he was playing late in the fourth quarter, so it sounds like he is down on the depth chart.

Depth chart: Landon Cohen has elevated his status as a backup tackle, and Sammie Hill and Turk McBride are set in the rotation. Lawrence Jackson, acquired in a trade with Seattle, should have a spot. Rookie Willie Young has made a push. A leg injury is holding back valuable veteran Jared DeVries.

Congrats to Landon last night for 2 sacks in some extended action.  Here's hoping as many of our guys as possible make it through the final cuts down to 53 this week.

Landon was claimed off waivers from Jacksonville. Good luck to Landon!
