I was just curious if anybody had any insight into how recruiting for a school like Ohio works now that the transfer portal is a thing.
As I’m watching the OU/Fiami game, they’re talking about our transfer from Vandy and of course the guy from OSU.
Do we still do the traditional recruiting thing or do we focus on getting people who don’t want to ride the bench in the SEC?
10 years ago playing time was a recruiting sell out of high school. Now players tend to take a P5 offer and transfer. But now we always get the player the P5 coach didn't want after he has had them for a year. Sometimes of of high school we were more likely to get a player who was the more looked over player who turned out to be better and if we develop a kid he might transfer up. But we still recruit a lot of players out of high school. It seems to me that this past year we took more kids transferring up than we usually do rather than having an abnormal number of kids coming from P5s.
