In Jake Neatherton's relatively few career carries, quickness has seemed a strength. Consistently he seems to get to and through holes. Now and then I've wondered why he hasn't seen more playing time.

Not sure if this is the answer, but I noticed that a few times when he was in the game and wasn't given the ball he did not block very well. In one case he gave a very good matador defense as the rusher went right to the QB.

Jake is a good back. The main reason he hasn't seen more playing time over his career at Ohio is because he's been in very deep RB rooms, led by AJ Ouellette and DeMontre Tuggle. During that time, he's turned in some great special teams plays.

I don't think Neatherton joined the team until week 3 this year. He was sitting in the stands as a fan, saw Ohio had a need and asked the coaches if he could help. Made his first appearance against Fordham and appeared to hurt his shoulder after his second carry. That shoulder may have kept him out until Buffalo game. He appeared to hurt his shoulder again in the first half vs Buffalo as I thought I saw him without pads and ice wrapped on his shoulder. After halftime, he was back in uniform.

He's one tough dude! He's also a very good guy. He's a member of Athletes in Action and has attended our church a few times. One time he helped with a Habitat for Humanity dinner by bringing some other folks, including a few other football players, to interact with volunteers who came to town from another university.

Hope he is okay after being body slammed on that shoulder.

That should have drawn a flag. The losing team took several cheap shots that drive after the game was decided.

I also question why Martin had Gabbert running around the last series when he was coming back from injury and they had absolutely no chance. Their fans should be calling for his head (and many are)
