Akron on the board against Gardner-Webb, which I'm sure brought a massive crowd to downtown Akron today...

It feels weird being the only MAC game today — like if we win we're the kid at the cross country gun who runs really fast to get out in front of the pack convincing himself he can stay there but doesn't really know if he can really stay there.

I'm not sure I like having to play Ohio State after the MAC season has already started, either. I'm guessing that OSU-Miami game being scheduled threw our Toledo game off kilter. There are competitive advantages to not playing our starters the entire game next week to stay healthy for a MAC run, but that's waaaaay too pragmatic an approach to playing the Buckeyes for my liking. I'm the stupid guy who would be willing to lose five starters to injury to beat them. I'm like Dusty Baker in that way.

Not that anyone will notice, but Miami plays EMU today.

And Temple is already in front of the pack by beating the Chips Thursday.

Akron gets a PAT blocked in OT, G-W scored on their try and made theirs, Zips lose 38-37

Ouch - Akron loses to Gardner-Webb. Liberty leading Ball State at the half. Nichols State tied with WMU. Buffalo losing big to Baylor. The MAC not having a good week at all.

After two weeks, the MAC is now 8-2 against 1AA schools and 0-10 against 1A schools (yes, I know they're FCS and FBS, but I consider that mostly BS), including 0-7 against auto qualifiers.  (This follows last year's 3-win season against the big guys.)  Meanwhile, four 1AA schools have already beaten auto qualifiers (J'ville St. over Ole Miss, ND State over Kansas, SD over Minn and JMU over VT).  The MAC has to earn respect, but it isn't going to happen until they beat the big guys on a regular basis.
