This was already posted in the osu section but since one of my roommates wrote it and someone else suggested it I think this this article deserves its own discussion.  So here it is.

Get over it.  As long as they root for the Bobcats THIS WEEKEND, who cares who they support when we are not playing them HEAD to HEAD.

You must. Why do you care so much what your fellow Bobcat fans think of the Buckeyes?

I'm not meaning that as an attack, but is Ohio State Football really that important to you?

I enjoy OSU football.  I also enjoy OU football and basketball.  I will most certainly root for OU to beat OSU this weekend.  After that, I'll go back to supporting both every week.

I have no qualms with anyone who dislikes OSU.  I hate Notre Dame, and any team coached by Lane Kiffin.  The problem I have with this whole topic is the same as most others on this board.  Don't wear scarlet and grey if you're attending an OU game, and certainly not when we play them.  Outside of that, who cares.

It's already been said in another discussion on this article, this has minimal to do with football compared to everything to do with pure school pride.  If you went to OHIO and root for ohio state burn your degree and go back to ohio state and get one end of story.

OK. I respect that. I have alot of OSU family that supports the Buckeyes. But please understand the feeling that some of us get about the OSU gear around campus. I've watched this program struggle year in and year out to develop a fan base. We have a difficult time selling out. I believe we have better attendance when we aren't scheduled head to head with the Buckeyes. We have a student body that would rather sit home and watch the Buckeyes than come to a Bobcat game. We diehard alumni come back to Athens to watch a game, only to see loads of Scarlet jerseys walking down Court Street with no desire to head to Peden.

I would never say anything to these scarlet clad fans walking down court street. They are Buckeye fans. They don't care about the Bobcats. Don't you even get how a diehard Bobcat Football fan would be irritated by that in Athens? Can you even imagine walking down the streets of Columbus with Maize and Blue jerseys everywhere, none of them caring at all about a half empty Ohio Stadium?

I have only one loyalty, and that is to my Alma Mater. Go Cats!!

Just a quick opinion on OUr student support. I think it has been outstanding for the first two football games and there is no better student fan base in our league.

Agreed, Joe. We do have great student turnout, especially compared to other MAC schools. My post wasn't meant to belittle those great supporters that show up to the game in green and white.

I don’t care what you do in your on home.  But when in Athens, on campus or at Ohio event, you don’t wear the colors of another school, be it Ohio State University at Columbus, Miami University of Ohio, Penn State or Clemson.  If someone’s parents went to Miami University of Ohio and they go to Ohio, should they wear Miami gear uptown or to the cafeteria?  No!!  If you are a big proponent of the NRA and a friend is shot and killed by someone with a handgun, do you drop off food at their house wearing and NRA shirt?  No.  Simply inappropriate.  When in Athens, on campus or at Ohio event, put the OSU gear down, and step back.

Thats not quite fair, I am a buckeye fan, born and raised in Columbus.  But I know that OHIO needs my money and my support more and is my university.  I still root for OSU and hope they win a National Title, but I will always take a win over OSU by the Bobcats than worry about what it does to OSU's season.  And as a true test if you look at my wardrobe you will find at least 5 OHIO shirts for every Buckeye one and the only team jersey I own is green.

cc cat I agree with you to a point.  I HATE when I see osu gear on people, I actually just harassed a few guys walking down the street today wearing osu jerseys.  In all fairness though my best friend goes to miami and my other really good friend runs track at osu we all visit each other at least a few times a year and every time I visit one of them I make sure to pack an OHIO shirt to wear every night I go out.  Maybe its because I am in the minority when it comes to the student body and being a diehard cats fan, but I believe if you have a legit reason to support a team(alum, etc.) you should support them every where you go.  So if our littler brother up norths students want to come enjoy the number 2 party school in the nation and they want to wear an osu shirt go ahead, but if your an OHIO student and your at a party on mill you better not be wearing an osu shirt.

That is a definite yes. I have noticed student support much higher for the first two games. Now I hope that it doesn't drop after the Toledo performance, but a win on Saturday could take care of that for the next 10 years, HA!
The crowd as been particularly good for third down plays. Hopefully we can get the students (and community) more engaged the entire game, but all and all the support has been much improved this year.

Agree, my reference was to Ohio students only.  If someone is visiting, I have no problem with them wearing their colors, just as we should wear ours when on the road.
