A guy on another forum said that the MAC has banned the Rufus mascot costume for a year.

If so me thinks they've martyred Rufus......or will Ohio wimp out and come up with another mascot.

I guess they have the authority.....but they'd simply be giving more publicity to the event....the thing that wouldn't die.

That's what I thought when I first read it.....the Soarer has a damaged wing and can't fly....took some flak over Vinton County after the Wofford game.

I hope they ban him for a year! Talk about making Rufus a legend... I'm surprised people got as worked up over this as they did on this forum... "Mascots will be Mascots."

We arent average students, fans, or alums. Sure, this might be a black eye for a week nationally, but five years from now we will look back at this and laugh. I think the average Bobcat fan who isnt obsessed about our programs rep is already laughing, assumung they arent some clown on the politcal correctness train... If they do ban him, Rufus all of a sudden is a household name, more so then he is now. Could we have said that a week ago? Even if we had won, Rufus himself probably wouldnt be a household name among mascots.... And again, while it might seem like a blackeye, can having a blackeye as a mascot really trash our program that badly. IT'S A MASCOT! I'll tell you what it did do: further differentiate us from State. That is what we all wanted, right? Maybe this isnt the way you wanted it to happen, but beggers cant be choosers...

Plus, seeing that nut take a shot to the face is possibly the greatest picture ever.

And even if they did ban him, we could strike back with a fan-based "Free Rufus" campaign.

The national exposure gained as a result of this is far, far, far more more than we gained from playing Marshall in last year's Pizza Bowl.

The attention we've gotten is worth $millions. Jay Mohr is guest-hosting Rome today and just destroying Ohio State about it. This is fantastic.

Just wondering, but what are they destroying Ohio State about?

He made fun of the Buckeye as a mascot in general. He seemed to not even know what a buckeye is. He also made fun of some of the other nicknames of schools that aren't really things, although I can't remember which ones specifically. Maybe the Sooners, things like that.

He also was saying that Ohio is a school where players actually go to class, rather than just being football players.

It really seemed that he did not like Ohio State and really did not know anything at all about Ohio.

I can think of a school with an oddly red chicken or something.
