5 of the bottom 12.  Is it time for the MAC to rethink what it's trying to accomplish?

Maybe we should rethink what we are trying to accomplish in the MAC.

Truth.  People around here always seem to talk about how we need to get out of the MAC, but what conference would ever take us if we can't even win consistently in this conference?  The bottom 10 is a reality check if there ever was one.

A fact (except, of course, for the fact that nothing is a fact): It's incongruous for a win over the team claiming the No. 1 spot among the worst teams to extricate the victor from this list.

An assumption (which is less worth anyone's time than 'a fact' -- but here it is, anyway): If you are already floating around in the same receptacle as the worst team and you lose to that designated 'worst team,' you then have a strong case to inherit the collar as 'worst team.'

A conclusion: Win or lose, Mr. Hankey is an appropriate unofficial mascot.

An observation: With the exception of their season-opener, the A&M boys have nothing worth talking about on their 4-0 resume ... and their current Strength of Schedule is 107 (OUrs is currently 65, thanks in large part to them!).

A footnote: Wofford is 2-1.

The U is still ranked, OSU's opponent for their second game of the season. I think you mixed up that game with their season opener against Marshall. In terms of their strength of schedule, wouldn't OSU scheduling and playing OU contribute to that ranking?

You are correct about my flip-flopping "The U" and Marshall.  You are absolutely correct about SOS working to our advantage and OSU's disadvantage.

MAC teams always have stronger S.O.S. early in the season when we load the money games, and then our S.O.S. will fall quickly in MAC play.  Big 10/SEC/Big12, they all go in the opposite direction, start weak and then get stronger in league play.

SOS this and SOS that....bottom line:
1. We are in a lousy conference
2. We are one of the reasons we're in a lousy conference.
3. Other conferences we would join would already be lousy enough without our lousy having to add to the misery.
4. Detroit is not a holiday vacation spot.

Point taken, but to be fair we have only lost one MAC contest thus far this season.

Maybe 'cause we've only played ONE?

If the rumors of Villanova trying to make the jump to the Big East in Football are true, we should be looking to take their spot in the A-10. The writing is on the wall for FBS schools of our level. At this point, the smart move is to look to position ourselves as well as possible for our inevitable move to the FCS in football.

Right, with the underlying point being, perhaps it's a bit early in the season with only 1 MAC game played to be talking about how we can't win consistently in the MAC.

I get the disappointment, and the team certainly hasn't looked incredibly good, but come'on.

Maybe if we were not it the MAC then we could actually recruit players to come here.
