Sure football is about x's and o's and coaching.

Sure  college football is about home field advantage and seniors and being injury free.

You can talk about Wofford and Toledo being better than expected.

You can talk about OSU being possibly the best team in the country.

You can talk about Marshall and their home field advantage. You can talk about all our injuries this year.

What we're lacking so far this year is passion. It can come from winning.  It can also come from leaders.  Of course we have leaders, but they seem to be leaders by example.  Just do what a healthy Noah Keller does and we'll win....but that's not working.

This year we need a passionate motivational leader. I'm not saying we need a bunch of these guys. One of them would suffice. We had one last year in Patrick Tafua.

Who can fire us up this year? Frank has no doubt tried. I could do it with tales of a team in the late 60's going to a bowl game....of having classmates on the football team.....of sitting every home game in the bleachers which is now occupied by Victory Hill....of catching two rubber Ohio footballs within a minute...one in each hand..and playing tackle football with my friends on the Peden turf after the game was over....of the years  after leaving Athens of us being the laughing stock of college football....of the up Grobe years...of the down Knorr years...and these times of championships and making friends for life like OCF and G-man and Ted.......of a year like this year that still holds promise.....IF WE GET FIRED UP...... AND IT BEGINS NOW.

Can we have one passionate leader........maybe Boo:

DO THE BOO

I know....not so good....maybe this one:

GET JACKED WITH DAK

Somebody please step up......our season....good or bad....starts tomorrow.

I think Boo is a leader, but not the type you are looking for. I constantly see him encouraging his teammates and reassuring them and congratulating them on big plays and things like that. But I don't think he's one to yell and get excited. I'm not sure who on this team is.

A 3rd string NFL QB would be nice......but he's headed to be a missionary.

Do we get Donte Harden back this week? I cant remember if his suspension was four games or six. That would be nice if he came back, guns blazing and takes the opening kick back for a TD.

Great thought, Doc.

In many ways, leadership is on the field so it must come from someone who is a pretty darn good player.  But whether it's from play on the field or encouraging and/or educating and/or inspiring the teammates, it is needed.  And, I'm not sure that we have that this year.

We need someone to lead us, to will us on.

Early in the game against stupd cow, we stopped them on a big play.  I think it was when they went for it on 4th and some from about our 40 on their first or second drive of the day.  I wrote down on a notepad that the big stop by the D was going to turn that game and OUr season around.

I'm still waiting.

Last night in the team hotel, Boo read your post to the team.  By the time they were done they were so motivated they were pissing vinegar and ready to rip some heads!  Monroe, after today you will go down in sports lore right next to the Gipper, Gerig, Holtz, all the great motivators.

From 6 time zones away, I'll log on about 9:00 tonight to learn whether some Eagles are missing their feathered heads.

I just looked outside into the starlight above Ribeauville, and think I saw eagle heads and feathers flying over the neighboring storks' nest.

Also, be it known that the 10-year-old son of our French friends has a Bobcat-in-the-Wild postcard prominently displayed in the family kitchen!  Who knows?  The lad could wind up in Athens.

After the big Hit that Boo took on the long TD pass to Vince Davidson, the cameras showed him a little later after being helped off the field and several O-linemen were right there with him. That tells me that he's got their respect.

Success is this this case lit the fire.

Russ said at the start of the 3rd quarter that EMU was pumped and we looked to have no fire at all.

hat changed when we scored 3 TD's in the third.

Wanny of course was being facetious about the Boo reading and he missed the point.

The point was that we needed someone or somebody or some thing to fire us up.

The lead helped but it may have been this...... the hit on Boo where he shook it off and just about every o-lineman came up to see how he was.

Doc, spite your tounge, I was not being anything but serious.  Boo took the Eagle by the wings and got the job done.

Monroe I hope you took my advice as I made a cool 500 on this one.  4-1 with the CATS!
