Anybody know if they are doing the motivational videos that they did for football last year?  And when do they normally post them on youtube?

The Wofford motivational video should be up some time this afternoon/evening.  Also, the Wofford "Closer Look" will be up on Thursday as well.

Thanks for watching!

Daronce was on a 1 year internship with us last year and he did a great job for us.  We have a new intern this season, Ashley Hartzell, who is an OU grad.  She's already doing great work as well.  We wouldn't have been able to do half of the things we are able to do without their help.

Thank you!  Not only do I look forward to the week's upcoming game, but also the motivational video that comes after it!  Gets me fired up!  Great work.

Ashley Hartzell and the Ohio Broadcast staff,

I only hope you take this as constructive criticism.  First off, I really did enjoy the first installment of yours (Wofford Motivational Video).  I  was very impressed and it had me wanting more as always. But alongside our football team's performance against Toledo, your "Toledo Motivational Video" was a major disappointment.  It takes little creativity to take some highlight footage and add in some alternative music to it.  It looked like you just threw it all together at the last minute.

You have big footsteps to fill as Dorance constantly brought goosebumps with his work last season.  It was obvious he took pride in his work and did a great job at bringing some intensity and passion through his videos.
I know you may have your own style, but one thing that Dorance did well was including some kind of motivational speech at the beginning of many of his videos.  I would try and imagine yourself in that locker room watching the video and ask yourself what about a video would help get you pumped up?  Maybe I'm asking for too much as Bobcat fans and myself have been blessed to have such a great broadcast team that takes pride in their work every week.. We are very lucky.

Anyways, I hope Ashley and whoever else works on these videos will step up their game this week as we really need some extra motivation.  I want to see em' Bobcats come running out that tunnel fired up with some much needed passion.  I often show these motivational videos to friends and they are always impressed.  Not only does it get the team and fans pumped up, but it's a great representation of the quality and passion that Ohio University brings to the table every year.

P.S. If you get anything out of this....at least understand that people do actually watch your videos and enjoy them (minus this week).  Thank you and I hope I wasn't too harsh.

Sincerely,

Buster the Bobcat

I kinda wanna side with Buster on this one, the Wofford video is UNREAL, so much more emotion, so professional, how was this not all over facebook, athens tv, hell on every TV in baker center leading up to the season.  That is the kind of stuff that gets people excited for athletics.

oh and yeah the Toledo vid blew, granted all you are able to use is highlights of us running all over what looks like middle schoolers which is not nearly as dramatic of shots of touchdowns at Tennessee but still.

Ashley / Bobcat Broadcasting,

I for one would like to go on record as saying you're alll doing an unbelieveable job in general!  Bobcat coverage has grown leaps and bounds (in both quantity and content) in the recent past.  If I had been able to look ahead and see what's provided today 5 years ago I'd never have believed it..  The professionalism and the passion shines through...Keep up the great work!

Dave I am sure you are more than welcome to put one together, most of the people doing this are volunteers to begin with, so feel free to pitch instead of bitch :)

Hey Guys,

First off, thanks for watching the videos, we appreciate it.

Second, I just want to clarify a couple things.

Ashley is not doing the motivational videos this year, I am.  I made the Wofford one, and the Toledo video as well. Ashley is a vital part of our team, and may make some of these in the future but she's currently working on other projects for us.  If you ever have any questions or comments about these videos, or any videos that BobcatTV creates, please direct them to me, not Ashley.  I can be reached at shawe@ohio.edu.

I appreciate the feedback on the Toledo video.  Unfortunately, every single video that we make isn't going to be on the same level as our best videos.  There are many reasons for this, but it's just the way things work in video production. I've yet to produce a video that I'm 100% happy with, and I probably never will.  There's always something that could be done differently on each piece to make it better.

There are many factors that go into determining how "good" a video will end up; most of those have nothing to do with actually making the video. Factors like the quality of available footage, outcome of a previous game, and most importantly time available to produce the piece all play a very large factor in creating anything.  Also, some people are going to like certain things, and others aren't, it's a difficult line to walk throughout the season.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Wofford video, and hopefully you'll enjoy some of the others that we produce throughout the year.

Thanks,

Evan

Evan,

I think you always do top flight work, as evidence from the national awards that you win on what is becoming a regular basis!  Ohio University is lucky to have you!  You and your entire (very small) staff deserve a great amount of credit.

what the?! did you SEE the Toledo game? You're upset that there wasn't a better motivational video recap? C'mon, you can't polish a turd. That video should be 5 seconds long. These guys should get hazard pay just for having to sift through the footage to find something worth showing.

Evan and team, keep up the great work and thanks for all you do. Go Bobcats.

Evan,

That was just my two cents as a fan.  Glad to see you responded in a professional manner to clear things up.  I was just a little afraid of this team not having any emotion or passion out there and I didn't want you guys over in video production to lose it as well.  These videos deserve plenty more positive recognition for the work you all do.  Sorry if I made it seem like I was attacking you. Keep up the good work and put some spark back into this team!

Obviously you don't know what we are talking about...The motivational video comes BEFORE the Toledo game.

Yeah, but for this week I agree....not much to work with here. Might have to go back to 2008 vs OSU film to add in there.

Thank you for quoting me as I read some of this stuff....I mean really? If you thought the team looked uninspired during the game, I would be more pissed at the coaching staff not getting the players up for the game. Our broadcast staff (to my knowledge) is not in the huddle or the locker room to go up to guys and tell them to give more effort, that is the coaches. The team should be happy they get any motivation videos when they are giving dog shit performances.
