Bumping because this is eating at me again...

I really wish someone would shake our Russell rep.  They've sat on their laurels ever since winning the contract.  I know for a fact that Follett's has begged them for true replica jerseys.

All Folletts has to do is order the jersey's, anyone licensed Russell dealer can do this, however no one wants to order the volume or pay the price that makes this worthwhile for Russell.

Oh and directly related to the thread...If the rumors about special uni's for the Halloween game are indeed true, I think black with Green numbers and Green pant stripes would be outstanding.  I'd bid well beyond my means if they were to auction those jerseys off as a fundraiser...

The Manager told me last year they did order them and the Rep hosed the whole deal up from a delivery timing perspective when he "lost" the order...Replica's can't be that much more expensive than the crap they put out but I can't say I blame them for taking the safe route considering the history...

real replicas are going to go $60 plus, and orders need to be close to one year out.

Russell can make one off jerseys if you call them directly. Takes approx 3 months and will cost around $250. I assume if you order more the unit cost will go down, but I'm not sure.

Right...That's not that much more that they run the risk of eating.  Additionally it's not just Folletts...All of the outlets from footballfanatics to the ncaashop to fansedge offer the same crap Russell runs off the line.  Take a look at any other program and you'll find actual replicas...

I can buy an Appalachian State Mountaneer replica...A Montana Grizzley replica...A Citadel Bulldog replica...Hell I can get an EASTERN MICHIGAN jersey that at least looks close to theirs...

I can't attribute this to Folletts not wanting to risk the order...I can only attribute it to Russell's efforts paling in comparison to other vendors...

The manager of Folletts can tell you whatever he wants, the bottom line is they do not have the profit margin nor do they project the demand for such an item.  This has been an issue for years, and the basic answer is the bookstores do not want to make a committment to the product.

Won't argue that JC...You're probably dead on.  The larger issue though, is the poor quality of the product Russell manufactures to be put in front of the rest of the world.  I don't understand enough of the in's and out's to know for sure (i.e. does the Ohio AD sign off on the design of the "replicas") but I still maintain that if you compare what's offered to what other vendors put out for other schools of similar following, it's nothing short of embarassing.

Wait til next spring game, and the current uni's will be for sale there at $15-30 each. (est.)  They have a two season cycle, and this is year two.

Yes the Athletic department has a say in the way their brand is presented but only to a certain extent.  Russell, Nike, Adidas, Reebok will all make a replica of any quality you want, and our bookstores are worried about that bottom line they load up on the cheap stuff and point fingers when questioned.

I buy a ton of OU logo stuff, but I draw the line at football jerseys on grown men if they are not playing.  I have been really disappointed in the clothing that is offered for kids, though.  Thank goodness I found two nice football jerseys for my boys a couple years ago.  Basketball jerseys are not even available for them.  Too bad the bookstores can't find a way to order some in that will be profitable.  If one of the two would make it an online-only item, they could do just-in-time ordering.  I am practically begging to pay $40 for a decent youth basketball jersey.  I can go to TJ Maxx and buy OSU, WVU and Marshall jereseys for $10, but cannot even pay full price for the team we want.

I have felt that way for years.  My Esquire subscription simply confirms that I am correct.

I'm with you 695.  I've asked the question before but at what age is a guy too old to wear a "player" jersey?  You and I passed that when we quit playing football with our friends in the field.

If, for instance, you wouldn't be proud to wear a Patrick Tafua jersey then you are not really an OHIO fan.

Is your D.J. or Tommy jerseny ready?

That explains why I saw Brazill's Little Ceasar's Bowl jersey walking in front of us on our way to seats 5 ft from the sun at the A&M game.  Looks like a call to Russell is back on my Christmas list...

Am I missing something here?  There definitely was a spring sale in 2009, there definitely was not in 2010, so there will be one in 2011....
