I thought he actually gradually got better. We now have to hope Bangura stays healthy and I would expect to see a lot of options vs BGSU.

I'll disagree on Harris being bad. He's played a few downs at mop up time before tonight. I doubted we'd score in second half tonight. As the game wore on, he got more comfortable. He had a few nice runs and passes were decent with at least one dropped. Is he Kurtis? No. But not surprised at your negative take given your history.

I was actually impressed with Harris' play. The weather was terrible--wet and cold. That first fumble was huge, but looked like lack of reps/weather playing a factor. They clearly were very conservative with him at first, but he did not make any dumb plays. If Wiglusz holds on to that one deep pass his stats would actually look pretty good. Ball State was clearly playing the run which limited the run game (without Bangura). He will have to help win next week. However, he stepped up in a tough situation and did not lose this game.

Letting them score on 1st and goal from the one was a very smart move. When Toledo scored the long TD that was called back to the 1 I said BG was going to win. Didn't think it'd be a TD but alas, Toledo apparently didn't want to tackle once they got into FG range.

BG was on the brink of firing Scot Loefler a few weeks ago after their loss to Buffalo. They literally had already started vetting candidates. Now they've won four out of five and could play for a MAC title. This sport is stupid.

The MAC is a very weak league this year. It is weak because the best teams don't measure up to what G5 championship teams usually look like. The bottom of the MAC is not any weaker than normal. Most of the better teams in the preseason projections have sustained key injuries. We had been lucky until yesterday. I think that was part of the reason, but not the only reason, that we had out performed expectations. IMO, Bowling Green is probably the 2nd or 3rd worst team in the league in a league where the gap between 1st and 11th is not that great where they have stayed healthier than most teams and caught most of the toughest games where their opponent was at their very weakest in the season. That will probably be true of Ohio next week too. If Bowling Green wins the MAC they would be one of the lesser champions of any conference in FBS history but it could certainly happen.

It always seems to come down to which team can stay the healthiest the longest. If you remember back to Solich's first season, we were 4-4 heading into November and in the hunt for the MAC East title. Then injuries started to mount up and we finished 4-7.

In 2008 Ohio was 4-8 but the upgraded athleticism started to feel different. I remember in the early Frank days it felt like a miracle if the offense moved the chains. Then after the big loss in the New Orleans Bowl in 2010 they decided to move to shotgun instead of under center.

Speaking of coaches, I'm beginning to wonder if the Toledo fanbase is feeling with Candle what some of us here were feeling in Frank's final years. Candle is consistently good, albeit maybe just average in a better division of the league. This season is only his second division title and he hasn't won more than 7 games since their MAC title in 2017. This discussion could all be for naught if they win their last game of the season and win in Detroit, but nonetheless I have to wonder if patience is wearing thin.

2008 was a team with serious injury issues, not as bad as 2012, but still bad. They lost 12 players for the season, including over a third of the starters including the entire backfield (Scott, Harden, Morsillo) and the TE (Mooney). On defense they lost a couple linebackers (Meyers, Brown) and a couple DBs (Posey, Mitchell).
