I think RB Donte Harden is eligible to return against Kron.

Will he play?

How will he do?

Stay tuned.

I'm pretty sure he is, this was game 6 and he was suspended for 6 games so let's hope we see him and let's hope he really tears it up.  If this happens then we have a solid running game with a decent passing game which will make us very tough adding in the fact that we have 2 QB's that can run as well.  Hell, now I'd like to see Harden, Bates, and Boo in at the same time.  You want to see a defense's worst nightmare?  I think that combo of those three will be it.

Solich seems to like Davidson a lot, even though his rushing numbers are pretty mediocre. Solich always mentions what a complete back he is because of his ability to block, which I guess is something coaches probably pay a lot more attention to than fans.

Davidson is playng well.  He caught a ball at abotu our 27 and thru pure effort got about four more yards for a first down.  It was a real nice play.

Doesn't that also mean Oxley returns?

Donte Harden and AJ Oxley have regained playing status..both will help the Bobcats Football team...Oxley gets several pieces of mail from  NFL teams interested in him.

Just waiting for someone from the Morality Police to jump all over that one.

I think both Oxley and Harden can help the team. Harden will have to work to get his spot back, as Davidson, Brown, and Boykin have all looked good, and with Harden you have to wonder about his health, and whether his shoulders will be able to take the hits. As for Oxley, he was the starter until suspended. He will be a force inside, and will make probably the strongest part of the team, the defensive line, even better.

I understand you like the defensive line-there's some pretty good players there who have not gotten hurt and have been consistent in their play. (BTW-I met Stafford Gatlings folks at Marshall-they were great!-really nice people)

However, the facts are that we are not very good at sacks-which I think-falls mostly on the defensive line and we are not real great against the run.  Pass defense wise-if we can't get sacks and hurries, our defensive backfield is getting shredded because the QB has too much time.  No sacks against BG illustrates my point.

We really haven't had a good pass rush lately.  I'm with Monroe on this-we need some fast monster defensive ends recruited.

Harden in at RB would be nice in the 4th quarter to give Vince and Co. a break and injury protection. Chemistry is too good right now to insert another major offensive player into the rotation. At least until Harden has a couple of games under his belt. Special teams could also be a nice place for Harden utilizing his speed.

I have to imagine that the lack of sacks has to be the result of the DL being told to stick with their gap assignments on the line and not gamble. Oxley in the rotation could make the unit strong enough where swimming upstream to the quarterback would be permitted on stunt alignments.

I'm pretty sure you're right about that, but if so it's going to end up with us giving up 400+ yards in every game where the opponents have an offensive pulse.  We just probably don't have the personel to do differently so we do what fits.  If they're staying with their gap assignments, do you think we have a good run defense because of it?

The defense actually has been good against the run, at 3.56 yards per attempt, which ranks 37th of 120 teams nationally.

Sacks have been minimal, but you also have to account for the fact that there haven't been that many passes thrown against us. Only Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan have had fewer pass attempts against them among MAC teams. You also have to account for how much blitzing is done. I really don't think we've blitzed a lot compared to a lot of teams. But as a whole, I agree, I'd like to see more pressure on the quarterback for sure, especially from such an experienced defensive line.

There is probably not enough of the right personell on the D line to do some of the things we'd like to see and that is partially the result of how this program has recruited at D line. Oxley moving from O to D speaks volumes about the need for more talent on that side of the ball.

Just got around to listening to the Frank Solich Show and he said Davidson will start and play a couple of series and then Harden probably will come in and play a couple of series. He's been getting quite a few reps in practice the last few weeks in preparation for his return.

I like what a complete player Davidson is, but from what I saw last year, Harden is a better runner. Hopefully this will give us another key weapon on offense.

Harden does give us some depth in second half of the season. That will help as teams are banged up at this point. Years past Donte has been beat up by mid season. Having him healthy for our critical games coming up will help.

I saw he had 40 yards in the box score.  Didn't see the game or any of him in the highlights.  How did he look?

We have GOT to get some more carries for Boykin.   Hardin looked a bit slow to hit the holes, I thought.

Harden produced better numbers than Davidson and had more carries, although it seemed that they probably were on the field an even number of times. Davidson will probably be in there a bit more often on passing plays because Solich alwyas says he is an outstanding pass blocker. He always says Boykin and Brown need to get a lot better at that. That is probably why we only see Boykin at the end of games running out the clock because he doens't have to pass block.
