Looks like Kent pays $425,000 to Purdue so they can roll with the Tide on Sept. 3. Earth to Jim Schaus drop out of the New Mexico State road game and make a little money. Work out a home and home with the Boilers and save Frank a trip to La Cruces. I know it is easier said than done but it would be sweet to see Purdue in Peden in a couple of years and we could go into Ross-Ade and knock them off next season while pocketing some dough.
I personally think a home-and-home with Purdue is a million times better than a home-and-home with NMSU, for several reasons. (I've had a recurring dream for years of us beating Purdue at home.)
But, that said, it wouldn't make any money. With home-and-homes, you pretty much keep gate receipts and pay for visiting team travel. While the crowd for Purdue will be bigger, it probably won't be
that much bigger than NMSU, using examples of Wofford v. UConn. And we didn't even have to offer $5 tickets for Wofford to get 20K. Say we sell 5,000 more tickets for Purdue and Peden is bursting at the seams, that's only $100,000 more (incorrectly assuming NONE of those extras were students using freebies). And then there's a chance we might have to pay a buyout to NMSU that would negate any extra revenue.
Even if it's a financial wash, I still think we should do it, though. Most definitely. Go for it Frank and Big Jim!
