How much does a 'true replica' sell for?
Why aren't people in Athens walking around in Keller and Brazill and Gerald Moore and Boo, etc jerseys?
I don't know Monroe, maybe it is because no one offers one. As for price, check out the crap they are selling, $59.00 for crap. What we really need here is a good venture capital company to get this started. Do you know any Monroe?
Actually it's because it would be a violation of NCAA rules to sell an authentic or replica jersey with a players name on it, since the player is not allowed to collect any royalties on it. If you do see an 'authentic' jersey with a name of it, it's either:
A) a knock off
B) a jersey of a player who is already in the NFL, much like the Ladanian Tomlinson throwback TCU jersey I have. We also sold Palamalu's USC jersey and Peterson's OU jersey (as well as some Buckeyes like Herbstriet) at the store in Columbus.
FWIW -
I was a manager for the Sports Fan-Attic up in Columbus for a little before moving back down here. They would sell Authentic Buckeye Jerseys for around $150, and replicas for around $65ish.
Authentic NFL jerseys would retail for around 300 or so, depending on the player (longer names cost more because it takes more stiching) and 80 for replicas durring the season. Usually half off the rest of the year.
There's another type of jersey (replithentic) that has a stiched name and number on it, but everything else (team logo, any designs ont he arms, ect) are iron on like the replicas. They usually sold for around 120.
Edit to add:
When I was working in Columbus I often asked why we didn't carry more OU items (all we had at the time was a couple hats, one of which I sold to our very own Bornabobcat, and a bumper sticker). The answer I always got back was that Ohio, for whatever the reason, was very stingy about giving up it's licencing.
Fiami isn't as strict with thier licencing, while we didn't cary as many items as we did for OSU, we did have several different hats, novelty items, and jerseys for the Redhawks. I even bought my dad a throwback Ben Rothlesburger Fiami bobble head (he graduated from Fiami..I try not to hold it against him).
