I really thought we took this team too lightly.
There was all this press about their poor season, and major injury problems.
We just came off beating our biggest rival the week before.
Now we have basically a non-conference, meaningless game, at home, on Halloween.
We gave them hope in the 1st half with those 4 interceptions. Without those interceptions the game is over at half time as we would probably have been up by at least 21.
Clearly if this was a Knorr team we would have lost, cause that's what happened back then.
Today our team can win games even when we don't play our best. We have come a long way to be able to accomplish that.
Now we have a short week to get ready for Buffalo and Frank and the staff have plenty to complain about which will help to get  the players mentally ready and working hard to win on Thursday.



GO BOBCATS

OUr team seemed ready to play and pounded out a TD on the first possession and threw only one pass in reaching the endzone.  The whole mess is 3 forced passes and another missing a wide open receiver by chucking it over his head to be picked.  Those are huge momentum busters and give time of possession to the other guys.  It was a one man effort--no team in that meltdown.  

To his credit and to the defense for not allowing four first half TD's off turnovers the young man righted the ship and played an awesome half of football.  Results of four quarters--a victory.

The playing down to the opponent like last year vs Kent, Akron, Ball State and N. Texas were team related.  A dropped pass here, a false start there, penalties and missed red zone score or two and you allow the opponent to hang around.  There was only the four personal turnovers--the players showed no sign to me of not being prepared.  Every time Ohio made it to the red zone they came away with a TD--to me that is being focused and ready to play.

In fact OUr secondary after the first pick by us, added perhaps to last week's four and a substitute QB, might have become too confident in thinking they could pick every pass as they seemed to gamble more than usual.  

My concern is that the dbacks seem to play between their man and the ball vs keeping their man between the ball and the goal line.  Perhaps it is technique or perhaps some of our guys need to give a little cushion.  There were several amazing completions by LL especially on the last scoring drive.  OUr guys were right there on coverage and only perfectly thrown balls could have been grabbed.  The moral is don't turn the ball over at any point in the game and instead grind them up so they never have the chance to make great meaningful plays at the end.
