I am seeing them referred to by both names on their website and in the media.

I think they were Louisiana-Lafayette but want to be called the University of Louisiana.

Kinda like us if we wanted to be called the University of Ohio.

From what I have seen, it appears they would like to be officially known as "Louisiana" as of the beginning of this school year.  In the midst of rebranding, if you will.

Yeah...their game notes use "Louisiana" and "Louisiana's Rajin' Cajuns", the latter being a very interesting moniker.

They don't seem to have instructions to the media to avoid "Louisiana-Lafayette", however...unless I missed it.

I remember way back when they were Southwest Louisiana State.

Would it be improper to just think of them as La-La land?

I remember when we played them down there a few years ago.  Our fans reported the hospitality and tailgate food were tremendous.  I wonder if they'll bring many fans with them to Athens?

What about Louisiana-Monroe.  Aren't they wanting to be known as "Louisiana" too?

It is now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL or now they go with UL or simply Lousiana).  It use to be know as Southwest Louisiana State (USL) and before that it was known as Southwest Louisiana Institute or SLI.
My wife's family are from all over south Louisiana.  They were French nationals, and not Cajuns from Canada/Nova Scotia.  Many went to Southwest as it was for a long time THE university for a proper and respectable family from Acadiana to send their children for undergrad.  Some of my wife's family have played for the Ragin Cajuns and some have played for LSU.  But I digress.  And by the way their idea of a tail-gate takes our ideas to a whole new level.  Their hospitality is always way above any "Yankee".

"Lafayette we are here, so bring on the Bobcats."  Or, is it, "Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes, Bobcats."  I'm getting my historical quotes related to the Rajun Cajuns confused here.  Maybe someone else can help me.  Monroe?

They prefer Louisiana over Lousiana-Lafayette (a name forced on them by LSU) just as we prefer Ohio over Ohio U. I hope everyone will respect that as we are very similar insofar as we share a great deal in common as far as being bullied by an overgrown school in the state capital goes.

Plus, I have an awesome Louisiana shirt with an angry chili pepper on the back that a UL coed gave me after our respective losses in Nashville in 2005. We swapped the shirts on our backs, a deal that worked out much better for me than for her. And she gave me her GEAUX CAJUNS sign that still hangs on my office wall.

I hope we win in a game with no injuries and no drama.

I think those from the Bayou pronounce it LOSE-iana. Let's keep it that way.

Got any pictures? I'm not talking about the shirt or the sign.

From the stuff I read on their athletic website, they never call themselves just "Louisiana." It's usually "Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns" on first reference and then "UL" after that.

The official name of the website calls the school the "University of Louisiana at Lafayette."
