Has anyone been keeping track of Hershey's fake punts and what the needed yardage was on each one? In Peter King's MMQB he complained about the 18-yard fake punt that didn't work. I know the NFL speed is way different, but concentration and laziness is similar on special teams at times, so I was hoping I could use Hershey as an example of a punter getting it done with consistency.

It's about good decisions and athletic ability. Just like a QB not throwing into triple coverage. Hershey seems to have a knack of knowing how far he needs and whether or not he can get it. The Jets fake was a case of the guy not even knowing how far he had to go. It was like a receiver running a five-yard route on fourth-and-10. Or a player driving the lane for a layup down by three at the buzzer. Or a catcher lazily rolling the ball back to the mound and heading to the dugout with two outs and a runner on third.

Or on 4th down and the QB fumbles while getting sacked and the offensive lineman covers the ball far from the first down........I wonder how much ribbing the Ragin Cagin OL took for doing that on the last play vs trying to pick it up and lateral or kick it and hope you get away with one.
