The way we've been using Bates reminds me a lot of how the Wildcat has caught on throughout the NFL. I don't know if it would work with Bates as the full-time QB (we used to have the offense I fear with guys like Kareem Wilson and Dontrell Jackson, who were super fast, but not great throwers) but with him playing the "change of pace" QB role where he sometimes throws, but usually runs it should be--and has been--giving defenses fits.

Remember all the hand wringing that's been done for the last two years about our lack of running game? Looks to me like the coaching staff is trying to create one using any means necessary, even if that means getting a little inventive. I for one am all for it. This has been a fun team to watch the past few weeks, hopefully they can keep it going against Temple and Kent.

We would be 9-1 if Boo had been able to come into the season completely healthy, but even he has admitted that his arm/shoulder wasn't feeling right until later in the game at Marshall.  Once Boo was completely healthy we have been on a run, just unfortunately neither Boo or Bates were clicking completely those first run of games.  If you want to blame our losses early on you can blame it on the lack of a run game, it we had been able to get that going we would have been alright.  But as demonstrated in the current stretch of games, our run game is predicated on our passing game being viable.

With Bates in and Boo on the sideline, our options are limited. Having them BOTH on the field AT THE SAME TIME has seemed to work wonders. Who gets the ball? Who is gonna run? Are they gonna throw it? WHO is gonna throw it?

Think 38 points is enough to beat Temple?

I understand what you are saying.  I thought many of the same things as I walked out of the stadium.  I kept thinking about the break in the cadence and rythm and the resulting porcedural penalties and movement.  I would have liked the score to be 28-0 at half and about 42+ to 0 in the end.  I would like to see BOO play every down this year since he won't be here next year.  However, I have the greatest respect for and trust in Coach Frank Solich and his staff and will leave the coaching and decisions to them - I hope he's the BOBCAT coach for many many years and will support ;him. .  Next year, Phil Bates is most probably going to be our QB and offensive leader.   He can use the experience.  GO CATS!!!!!!   Hoping to go to Detroit again!

I'm usually more then happy to let anybody and everybody have thier own opinion, no matter how off-base or flat out wrong I think they are, but this comment just shows how out of touch some people are...

Up 21-0, we lose the rest of the game 13-17.

At least I can agree with most of the Love's ramblings, even if I think he's a tad extreme.  But this is just dumb.

I'm mad  Buffalo didn't drop us Utah State style....5-0

Maybe we could rush the field after we barely defeat a I-AA Illinois State team to end the nation's longest winning streak...

This is what I remember about Ohio football when I was a student. We laughed at the idea of wasting an afternoon to watch us come back vs. WMU only to drop the potential game tying/winning TD...wide open in the corner of the end zone...and we dropped the friggin ball!

Oh...and peeing down our leg everytime Miami came to town and trying to convince ourselves that Akron and Kent were always wins when...we were just as bad as they were at the time.

Seriously...there will be a year or two in the not so distant future where we will suck real bad....reeeeaallll bad...epic bad. I don't want to waste a minute of this to think "Man, we should have looked better!"

Winning is the toughest thing to do and we are doing it at an alarming rate. Can we please sit back, relax, and get ready for what could be another late season clash for a division title!

Medler excellent post!  Some here really do sound like OSU fans, we win by 20 and they are not happy because the pretzels were stale, the punter only had a 35 yard average, or our All-American kicker missed his second extra point of the year.  When we were 0-3, I was saying this team will be o.k., and I believed that for a variety of reasons.  Sit back enjoy the ride, because we have seen much darker days!

Yeah.....attendance sucked....and didn't look so good on the telly.

That friggin penalty after penalty sequence stunk....but we rebounded.

Sure I was hopin the D could do a shutout....but we stopped em when we needed to.

More importantly as a recruiting nut I was salivating like Pavlov's dog with all the highlight moments.  Your a high school student athlete who has an Ohio offer....how can you not be excited by that performance.  I'm a high school QB and I get a chance to be in a bowl bound program where the QB catches and passes and runs it in for a TD!!!

We have improved from our first games.....where we honestly didn't look like we do now.  The offense is clicking...the QB's and o-line were suspect early on but not now.

My son who is a Buckeye fan wants to go to the Temple game.

November is the key...and we're off to a good start.
