Per Pete Thamel on Twitter Deion Sanders and Colorado are currently targeting Kent State head coach Sean Lewis to be the offensive coordinator at Colorado. He’s currently the leading candidate.

Would be crazy if that happens and bad for the MAC.

Probably a coincidence he has two big time transfers in the portal that will certainly draw interest from Coach Prime.

It’s now official Sean Lewis is leaving to be the OC at Colorado.

I wonder if Kent's big time WR Dante Cephas follows him to Colorado.

Weird. He must feel he can't take Kent any further.

Weird but not unheard of. Dan Enos did the same thing resigning as head coach of Central Michigan to be the OC at Arkansas.

Total autonomy as OC as long as he keeps the head coach's son happy.

That and gets him out of the murderer's row in September they always face. Always love the six-million dollar tour of death they go on every year.

Kent actually catches a bit of a break next year: Wagner at home, at UCF, Arkansas and Fresno. They would've had a shot at being bowl eligible, but maybe not now. Colorado is at TCU and home vs Nebraska and Colo State.

Could be with Deion's health issue he'll be first in line for HC should the opportunity arise.

If the press reports are true, Dion Sanders is starting out as Colorado by
generating a lot of controversy.

1. He named his son, who will be transferring from from Jackson State, starting
Q.B.

2.He said current Colorado players need to hit the transfer portal

He basically said the thing every coach says behind closed doors. Doing it in with cameras rolling sure is something about Deion that people at Colorado might not be ready for.

I have no fan ties whatsoever with Colorado but I am all eyes/ears to see how this unfolds. His words with the team were powerful, to me. It's not going to be an overnight turnaround but I absolutely believe he'll have Colorado in a good place soon. They're already relevant because of Deion, and they were not relevant last week.

This is going to be fun. I hope Deion stays out of NCAA trouble (not suggesting anything here -- just hoping he does) and succeeds. This is a guy who has talked a lot in his career. And now he's walking the talk as a coach. Gonna be very interesting to see how it plays out. He had something unique going with Jackson State. Not so much at Colorado me thinks.

If he gets the talent into Boulder, he'll win there. I think he'll get it, eventually. He's walking into a pretty bare cupboard, but in the portal era, he might be able to get the talent level issue fixed faster than normally/historically expected.

Why I think Deion succeeds is that he is pushing what the players want. There have been few players in my lifetime who did a better job at marketing themselves and making crazy money doing it. With NIL, which 'Coach Prime' specifically talks about helping the players attain, he's speaking to their pocketbooks. Just look/read about what is happening in the portal over the last few days. Players are actively stating that they want to come play for him. He'll hit on some key players this offseason and might be able to make an immediate impact.

How I look at it... if we're losing coaches to P5 that's a positive. It means we're having success and people are noticing. It's a lot worse to be on the other end.

Side Note: Not that this matters, but is there *any* connection between these two? It's not like Kent State had OU's offense or something, or Kent has had some success. He's a young head coach on a below average team.

I'm amazed that Chris Creighton at EMU hasn't gotten a bigger gig yet. Has to be one of the hardest jobs in the FBS and he's taken them to five bowls in seven years.

He's saying that he's bringing players with him but none of those Jackson State kids he is apparently talking about are in the portal yet. I remember DJ Cooper talking about coaches telling him that he was too good for Ohio, not recruiting him but just saying that while he was an Ohio player, and some in the media thought this violated NCAA rules. Deion is apparently recruiting is Jackson State players to come to Colorado while he is still coaching for JSU and recruiting for Colorado. He came close to pretty much admitting this without saying exactly who he is recruiting. It seems like that would also be against the rules although I'm sure it has been done many, many times before - just without saying what you were doing while you were doing it. I am not a expert on NCAA rules but it seems like Deion's brashness itself might get him into trouble. Maybe this will just become the new reality in a jungle world with changing rules and the NCAA having no teeth.

100%

I think he's working with some non P5 bias. This is his first FBS gig, harder mountain to climb, I imagine.

I hope this works out well for Colorado, not because of Deion or Sean, but because they have the single, totally coolest mascot in all of college football! Ralphie rules!

And there is nothing wrong with this. In fact, the reason there is a new coach is because the standard of performance was clearly not acceptable. Thank you for providing clarity.

That job is haunted, but it will be fascinating to watch no matter how it turns out.
