Unfortunately, I think neither. A player's skill set is his MO. Albin needs to figure out how to use both QBs effectively - unless you think a 2-QB system is the kiss of death.
You've heard the old adage, "if you have two, you don't have one". I think that same logic applies here.
I think if we would have won we would be saying Rourke is our man.

If we would have scored a TD then maybe we would be saying Rourke is our man.

Armani should at least get a chance to improve OUr red zone offense which currently is zilch or as the PA man puts it is nil.
That red zone offense in week one got me scratching me head a bit. I wonder if that was just an off night for Rourke or the inexperience was creeping in?

Throws like the one to Buckner in the back corner are ones i think Rourke is usually gonna make.

And that interception, while not a game changer, was really out of character for Rourke I think- it was so out of whack that I originally thought it was a WR/QB miscommunication.

I would go Rourke full-time, with CJ Harris as number two, and play Armani extensively in the field as a WR or in a few special packages. No shade to Rogers, but if he has NFL aspirations I dont see it being at QB.

For the second week in a row the audio is horrible on the coach's presser. There is no excuse for the poor production quality of these videos. Last week I watched about a third of our video and gave up. I then watched the one from Syracuse. It was night and day. The Syracuse one had excellent audio and better video in terms of lighting and color fidelity. I watched the whole thing. Why can't OHIO get its act together on these videos? The ones that Russell and company produce are fine. The ones that are the responsibility of other nameless minions in the AD's office look and sound like they were produced by students at the Athens Middle School.
I understand your struggles as I like a high quality video as much as the next guy. I've heard rumblings that they currently have no video department and had to hire a third party to complete the tasks. Rumor has it is a student from Athens Middle School and she needs to complete her math homework for Ms. Summers' class before she is allowed to create video content.
There's also a big book report due for Mr. Barrington coming up. (although I think he is now retired).

It sometimes takes a few weeks to see the real impact of an early game, and Ohio's performance against the Orange is no different. If Syracuse goes to Rutgers next week and gets steamrolled, that wont look good for Ohio...but if the reverse happens, then maybe Ohio didnt do so bad?

I agree with a lot of the folks in the posts last two weeks who say we got to pick a number 1 QB and go with him.

Rourke is a smart kid, who is tough, has good overall QB skills but has only started four games. If Rourke is not learing from games like last week, maybe CJ Harris is the next guy up but it is too early to make that call. Lets see what Rourke does the next few weeks.

Rogers is a great athlete but i dont see him so much more productive at this point to take reps from a guy like Rourke, who may be a 3-4 year starter.

One of life's strange turns -- Joe Mischler's replacement is Darrius Perrantes, a Rhode Island transfer who last played for URI in 2019, the year that URI last visited Peden, which was also Mischler's last year with Ohio. Perrantes didn't play in that game; Mischler was o-1.

Despite Ohio's offensive shutdown last week, I doubt that any of us believes that the Dukes have much of a chance this week. They lost by only 45-3 vs TCU, but it was 35-0 at the half and they mutually agreed to shorten the second half by six minutes. TCU played only backups in the second half. I expect a big win for Ohio with plenty of PT for Kurtis, Armani and maybe a few other QBs.
Yep, I agree with a lot of that. If Ohio cant click regularly against this squad then I think we are in trouble for 2021. No shade to Duquesne, but everything should be a few steps slower against them and we should do much better. I watched the TCU vs Duquesne game last week and the Duke's offense did look lost in the passing game without Mischler.

Common sense would say that we get the W this week.
The real question is "How we play?"
We can play like last week and still get the W.
We need to demonstrate that we have improved from last week.

Improvement would include;
1) Finish drives
2) Force some turnovers
3) Stop the run
4) Do not encore any injuries

If we show this improvement the game will not be close.

I agree with your list. I would add a #5

Wrap up your tackles.

I lost count of the number of times we had a guy trapped in the backfield and let him get away. A few of these could be attributed to deft running on the part of the Syracuse back, but many times it was just extremely sloppy Bobcat tackling.

Playing OVC teams would be a good compromise. I wonder how much the little orange has-beens in knoxville are paying OVC doormat Tenn.Tech to make the long 90 minute drive to lose horrifically in front of a half empty 100k seat stadium?

UT is paying its four nonconference opponents a total of $3.5 million. South Alabama is netting $1.2 million for a Nov. 20 game. Tennessee is paying $500,000 to Tennessee Tech and $300,000 to Pitt. Bowling Green got $1.5 million.

South Alabama already almost beat them in knoxville when they were a new football program. (2nd year?) They might end up sorry about giving them another shot at this while paying them 1.2 million bucks.

Pitt is a p5 program. If the vols lose and only paid out 300,000... they can always say at least they didn't pay out a fortune for the loss. Half a mil to TnTech to drive 90 minutes is an act of charity.

Pitt and Tennessee have a return game at Heinz Field next year, so maybe Tenn'll get the $300,000 back next season. I wonder if this series is called the Johnny Majors Memorial Classic.

Are we really giving the Dukes $420K? We can not even begin to recoup that game fee! We actually will lose cash on Saturday.

Maybe with a Parents Weekend crowd paying $40 per ticket.

BTW, anyone notice that Parents Weekend is now Parent Weekend?

Look at what Wake is paying Norfolk and what the folks in Oxford are giving LIU. Not to mention what the Akron Zips will pay Bryant. Just shaking my head at our former AD and his lack of negotiating skills.

Prediction: Allison (993 yds) gets to 1,000 on his first carry; Odom (986 yds) gets to 1,000 on his first catch. BOLD PREDICTION: Both will be TDs.

Prediction: Third string guys will see a lot of action in this game

BOLD Prediction: The second half will be shorter than the first half as it will be played with shorter quarters or a running clock.

This could beat the 80-0 record spread against Rio Grande if the Bold Prediction above does not come to fruition.

Prediction - OCF will stand on every 3rd down - and some dumbass behind him will give him grief. I have seen it on many occasions from a few seats away :)

OCF - Keep Up The Tradition - And hopefully the enthusiasm spreads!

Saw Coastal throttle Kansas tonight. They scored their first TD using something called "a p-l-a-y a-c-t-i-o-n p-a-s-s." It's where the QB actually fakes handing the ball off to a running back and throws it to a receiver. Sure would be nice if we had that in our playbook. Wonder where we can get a copy of it.

BTW, Kansas lost its third game to Coastal in as many years. The Jayhawks have lost 11 of their last 14 games vs G5 teams.

WTF another safety? Here's an idea, get Armani under center and have him sneak it forward for two yards.
