Don't just gloss over that it is Thanksgiving week though. A 2 day week for many and several with the whole week off. Won't be anyone attending regardless so might as well move it early if that's what it takes to get it on ESPN.

Still bizarre. The whole point of "MACtion" is the Prime Time window.

No, the whole point is to get on ESPN at all costs.

I thought the point was to get on ESPN when they have time available, whenever that might be, so as to get a check.

Did anyone notice the beautiful Saturday weather in Toledo, who is playing for a spot in Detroit, and no one in the stands?

That wasn't lost on me. The "MACtion" kills our attendance narrative has always been a bit of a false narrative and that really drove that home.

Actually, the few times they showed the press box side it was pretty full. That is one thing that bothers me about a lot of MAC TV games, there are often more fans on the side away from the cameras.

This game probably wouldn't draw a larger TV audience (or attendance) even if it were in prime time or on the weekend. It's a game between two teams going nowhere this season, so when it's played is pretty much irrelevant. ESPN probably thought they'd get a bigger audience for one of their b-all events and they're probably right; it's Temple vs Princeton at 7:30. Playing at 4:30 gives everyone involved a a couple hour jump on the holiday. Looks like the rain we've had here today is heading for Amherst, so they could probably use the extra time.
