Just saw a report that Finn is done at Miami. The report said Martin said they were parting ways. If so, WOW...

The question is: Where would Finn go to next year? He already tried a Power School in Baylor and that didn't work for him.

I suppose he could light it up in C-USA but whatever.

No way he can go anywhere else. Career must just be done. He has played 7 years of college football. SEVEN.

First 2 with Toledo very limited playing time, but appearances in both. I assume one of those was a redshirt and the other the Covid year. Then 3 years as starter at Toledo, then a year at Baylor, then Miami. I'm not even sure on what basis he got the 7th year this year. I see no possible way there could be a basis for an 8th year.

And of course, this means the last pass attempt of his career was intercepted by Thomeson. Gotta love it.

Guess it explains why the line vs Toledo was acting weird. Someone knew.

I will have to go look. But I seem to recall ESPN showing Martin and Finn late in the Ohio game having a little more than a conversation. Seemed like Martin wasn’t happy with Finn’s decisions of taking losses or running out of bounds vs running the ball up field iff no one was open.

Miami’s Finnished.

I don't think that helps us at all.

For the sake if us making Detroit, there are probably no scenarios where Miami losing a third game would cause us to win a tiebreaker. I would guess that a tiebreaker scenario exists where we would lose a two or three way tie but win it when added Miami makes it a three or four way tie instead. I don't know that with 100% certainty but....

Finn didn't play bs Toledo. Looks like Hesson went the distance and didn't show well: 11 of 38 for 147 yds, no TDs, three INTs, nine rushing yds on 12 carries. The team rushed for just 75 yds on 33 carries. More pressure on their D if they're to have a chance vs Buffalo and BSU.

I watched a few minutes of the Miami Toledo game the other night and when I saw a different QB in, I figured Finn was injured. Turns out his dog is sick.

This isn't good for anyone, especially those of us still desperately clinging to the last vestiges of "amateur" athletics.

Want some fun? Log on Miami Hawktalk because those crazy boosters are going nuts. They suspect anything and everything with the departure.

If his NFL prep doesn't pan out, he can join Bluto from "Animal House":

But remember that Bluto became a United States senator...which used to mean something.

Is there a possibility that he just plans to go straight into the UFL?

That grass ain’t greener folks. Could’ve won some rings at Toledo. Padded his stats. Got his resume nice and full. Had a chance at the NFL. Now he took a non-playing detour to Baylor. Then came back to the MAC, didn’t play for Candle, and struggled. Then quit admit a possible run to the MACC.

First Ballot Bad Advice Hall-of-Fame.

If the reports are accurate that he got into a big shouting match with Martin after their loss to us and then walked out, I would put him down as having a very sick dog. This appears to be an Albin-level cut-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face move.

Indeed.

Just frustration of what could've / should've been boiling over.

To be fair, I would be in a shouting match with Chuck Martin DURING every game, so Finn has shown remarkable poise.

I kind of doubt it. They will just keep pumping more money into the portal until they find the right guy.

If losing Finn over a postgame dispute leads to 5-7 final record Martin could develop a repuation of not being a players coach quickly and slide with his recruiting. His job is 100% safe right now as he's under contract until 2029 and over 1 million dollars.

Martin is a good coach who does the right things. I can't blame him for demanding Finn's best.
