I’m so tired of Parker at this point. He was amazing last year. But god damn, this year he is trying too much.

We were calling for the QB and RB to be getting a lot of bench time. Would we? I can’t believe how bad our pass game is in this game.

This is starting to remind me of the Gardner-Webb game.

When did the Varsity App change?

For several years I have listened online to the Bobcat broadcast with an easy click and was unable to listen to any games basketball or football last week and now trying to tune in a completely foreign looking site.
I can't get it to work after multiple attempts
I got tired of trying and just looked up who carries the games and found this Columbus station carrying it live on the web.

Fox Sports Radio 920 WMNI
Go to TheTVApp(dot)to and scroll to CBS Sports Network.

That was one of the stranger games in recent memory. Thank goodness for Bangura. I understand the conditions were rough, but since when did we become completely unable to throw a downfield pass? No reason to get excited about this team again if we can't figure that out.

Parker drops back, sometimes has time, but then at the first hint of pressure he takes off. Doesn't help that he has the turnover bug, either. UMass is probably the only MAC team we beat with that effort last night.

How do you eke out a 28 point win? I don’t know, but that’s how it felt last night.

Brune's hurdle-score did not make the SC top 10 yet a simple Lebron assist for a layup and UNC dunk where the guy traveled both did. Where's anorris with the ESPN sleeper cell when you need him?

What the hell has happened to our passing game??????

I know it was wet, their D-line sucked and there was no real reason to throw. But still...throw some. It was terrible against WMU too, and pretty bad against Miami. Hendricks has to be rather disenchanted after the previous 3 games.

If I can cross sports, does anyone remember when mid-way thru his Junior year Ivo Baltic refused to take the ball to the glass and only shot fadeaways and outside shots for the last 1.5 seasons of his career? I feel like something similar is happening with Parker. He is so damn hesitant and just thinks everything can be fixed with his legs. He clearly and obviously prefers it...and it seems the playcalling is following.

And to some extent, rightfully so...because my God is he impressive eluding would-be tacklers. But this isn't going to work at Buffalo and in the bowl game (and longshot in the Championship). It is hard to see everything all the time, but the coaching staff needs to sit him down with some film and show him all the times in the past 3 weeks he should have delivered the ball and decided not to. He's still a good thrower, he has to find that out and get back to our potent balanced attack.

If Parker tossed 2 INT's like they did, we'd be yelling about why they werent just running it when it was working so well.

Hurts me in my heart not to see Hendricks rack up an easy 100 every game, but it's pretty clear Brian saw them attempt to throw and how easy it was for OU to run all over them and they stuck to that. They hung 40 (albeit v a bad team),by simply playing smash mouth football. Nearly 400 yards rushing. That's crazy.

Others will feel different, but I love to see it. Adjusted to the conditions. Found what worked. And stayed with it. Running was working. It was wet as hell. If they can't stop the run, just hammer it and run the clock.

Sieh moves into 5th all time in career rushing yards.

Cheers!

The passing game is MIA. Guys running open, but not being found. Harris had a TD on one play but Parker threw into triple coverage trying to get Hendricks the ball. What's crazy though is the amount of turnovers Parker has playing at home, yet he is undefeated in those games.

Hendricks' body language didn't look problematic, and he continually gives great effort while blocking.

One positive was Dellenbach making all six of his kicks, and kickoffs were outstanding given the weather.

I thought the same thing, MC. KO's and PAT's did not become a morale killer. Kept the natural flow of the game without incident.

I do need to see Navarro hit a 20-30 yard pass to Hendricks or Harris. Otherwise, I will conclude he has the football version of my chipping yips. Sure hope not. It does bum me out that we have #85 and he catches (1) ball. You see a box score for the QB going 3/8 for 28 yards and think "that is a typo."

More MACtion tonight people!

I have been shocked in three specific parts of our passing game/run game:
1. Navarro has gotten away from the short passes. The jailbreaks and the little tight end passes. We have two OUTSTANDING tight ends in Bruno and Williams but for the life of me I feel like they're underutilized. We also have possession guys like Gossett and Harris who can make big plays out of little dinks.
2. Where are the option pitches? Every run is the same.
3. Downfield ain't working. Parker almost got intercepted again throwing into double coverage to Hendricks last night in the endzone. He's done that on multiple occasions. Parker isn't a downfield passer. He is a mobile quarterback who has always made those 5 to 6 yard throws work to his advantage.

Parker doesn't seem to be a particularly generous leader. He tries to do too much rather than involving other playmakers. The reason Bangura got so few carries vs. WMU was Parker's decision making at the point of attack. He's calling his own number to the detriment of the team, which also leads to more TOs -- especially at home where he's constantly playing hero ball. I blame this on Smith and Ipshording as much as Parker.

I guess I'm the only one here who thinks Parker will be OK going forward, and doesn't see a parallel with TT or someone one else "quitting" at some point in his career. He did what he needed to do to win the game last night. Yes, he made one ill-advise throw into double coverage, but I would not conclude that he's given up on the short passing game. It just wasn't needed last night, and in the rain and wind, carrying the ball was a more secure option than passing it. The ball can slip from the passers hand or a perfect pass can be dropped in that type of weather. Why pass in that weather, if you don't need to?

He’s had 98 total passing yards in the last 2 games. Ouch. I don’t think he is a quitter at all, he’s just not himself for some reason. I doubt we will win against Buffalo with no passing game.

I agree with you OCF.

If you are winning because you are reacting to what the opposing D is doing whether it be they are double teaming your best receiver or using a certain base defense how can you play into their hands by playing into their strength?

What kind of coach would say well they are giving us the run but we are gonna pass anyway?

Also what kind of athlete is Parker?

Is he a Qb who can run or is he a RB who can throw?

He’s not a pro style stand flat footed 60 yards in the air passer but his intelligence and spin moves and overall field vision make him a decent QB.
