Any word on how Brawley is doing in the portal? Not seeing much of anything tbh.
Maybe from the FCS.

I've said this before, but I think hes another guy that means more to us than anyone else. OU gave him an incredible opportunity to prove his size isn't a hindrance. And he's won some jewelry in the process.

He's LISTED at 5'9" 185. That is not a P5 safety. I don't want to make this be negative, because I love the kids work. He plays much bigger. Tough kid. Nice tape. I want him here. He's experienced. He plays his role so well. He's as big as my wife.

With DJ returning... cmon RUN IT BACK.
I think it’s more of he isn’t posting anything. Last I heard was he was getting interests from mountain west schools, other Mac schools, fcs, and some p4. I met a couple times he has a great football iq and a respectable human being which probably explains him raising 10k for charity during the cure bowl. He is a tough as nails as we have seen from some of his hits and crazy athletic player ( I saw him dunking once playing basketball and was probably one of the fastest on the team) with all the playing experience I’m sure he will find somewhere. I loved watching him play so I will continue to root him on.

I just hate knowing he's probably gonna go somewhere else. I like DJ Walker but I think Brawley is just a better coverage guy.

He also finished top 10 on the team in tackles while missing 8 games.

That made me laugh!

Rutgers huh? Does he think he can pull a Rourke and turn the program around or is it all just about the Benjamins?

Wow. I thought he was heading a top 25 type program. Without knowing the money aspect, competitively I would say why not just stay. Especially with 3 P5 opponents next year.

Weaver stayed one more year than I thought he would. Was fantastic this season. Brawley I have heard nothing about. What a great kid, I wish he would reconsider. All my interactions with him have been great. Remember Brawley would have been a walkon at Kent if John Hauser doesn't get the job at Ohio a few years ago and pick up the phone in June.
I assume both want a little cash.

He could not have visited that dump? If he did, then it is all about the loot. I used to live not far from that campus. Oof!

Jokes about the academics and campus at Rutgers aside, they’ve been solid at Football. 7-6 this year with some close losses. Should be a good spot for him to play a lot.

Rutgers is solid. They’re not in that top tier, certainly, but they had a better season than Washington, USC, Nebraska, Michigan State, Wisconsin… took Kansas State to the wire in the bowl game.

Greg Schiano is no slouch either. Good opportunity to get some PT on a BIG18 squad. I’m not mad.

OL Jacob Dennison to Wake Forest.
That is actually a solid place for him. He will be a rotational guy I am sure if not a starter. The ACC is solid from top to bottom. He will definitely get exposure there.
The acc is at an all time low right now

Kinda surprised Weaver didn't declare for NFL draft, go through process, then, if his stock wasn't where he wanted, return or go through portal at that point. Not sure that's being sold as an option to these kids.

Its all about the Benjamins. All logic that used to go into making these decisions goes out the window when cash is the main talking point. Campus life, academics, even coaching to an extent just don't hold as much value anymore. In Weaver's case, I'm sure Rutgers was the highest bidder.

I'm a little surprised as well. He's got good size. He's quick. Smart. I bet he would test well.

I think some of the negatives around being older has fallen off, so people are just staying longer.

He's got good numbers here, if he doesn't replicate there... might actually hurt him in the long run. $100K today is nice, but that could be a signing bonus for a mid-rounder.

So we just got a guy from Youngstown State with 6 tackles in 2 years, does that count?
I’m sure he will work out, trust the coaches.

I’m not real concerned about Tim’s team, but we do have a lot of positions to fill. I mean a lot. We had a very small early signing period number and we’ve had 3 transfers in so far and what 6-8 out?

I’d sure like to figure out how many positions we have open-hard to figure with so many factors to consider-Covid, graduation, transfers, redshirts, etc.

We’ve been fortunate so far with very few transfers out compared to some places, but on the other hand we didn’t get a new coach who brings a bunch of his players from his former school. It will be interesting to see if we get any players associated . in some way, with our incoming assistant coaches. I’m not holding my breath, but we shall see.

Is he though? I'm only seeing... 4?

Regardless, they lost 20 or more. It was a lot of scrolling and I stopped counting.

And the fact is, and I said this weeks ago, AND last year, OU and the MAC is unlikely to be anyones first choice for prom date. We'll see plenty of signings as the window starts closing, and even more after the 2nd window opens. No one in the MAC is cleaning up, other than Miami. And we don't know what they have in those transfers. Because they haven't played. Other than Finn. Toledo has 3? BG has 4... two of those from Akron and Kent. Western Michigan has 1 RB. Buffalo has 1, a kicker.

Sieh will be pre-season all MAC. Likely will be in the conversation as a preseason POY. Other than Miami, no one brought in that caliber of player.

I will continue to remind everyone OU's all-time leading WR didn't show up in Athens until June.

We're fine.

Right now, there are, by my count, 87 returning players on our roster for next year, 10 incoming freshmen, and three incoming transfers. That puts us at 100 of the 105 limit for next year not including Brawley and Doggette, who have yet to announce destinations. Considering 30% of transfers in the fall are going to end up transferring again after Spring, I think it will be ok. Besides, it’s a zero sum game, if you recruit over a player, he's just going to leave anyway.

Yeah you're not wrong there. I've counted 18 signed that are Tim's (compared to the teams twitter). I see we've been in touch with people but that's all I hear. I was hoping the Georgia State WR was gonna commit after his visit but I guess not. I'll be interested to see what all happens in the beginning of spring. That's when we finally got to see who joined the team.

I hope we have a shot at getting Austin back but time will tell.
