As I was watching the game tonight on the road, I ended up in a conversation with another gentleman. The guy was more interested in seeing tonight's Butler-Louisville hoops game and described himself as a huge fan of college basketball. He said he spent a few times over the past few years in Athens, Ohio, on business, the last time being a few days before last year's basketball NCAA tourney win over Georgetown. He said while he was having dinner in Athens several days before the Georgetown game he became involved in a conversation with a patron of the restaurant who told him exactly why and how we would whoop Georgetown in the NCAAs. (as in personnel and coaching strategy.) The guy I met tonight said after the other guy finished his meal, the man got up and left, and the bartender said: "Do you know who that was?" The guy I met tonight said, "No." The bartender said it was Frank Solich, a "great ambassador" of Ohio University, talking up the hardcourt Cats wayyy off clock.

Got Frank!

Thanks for the great story.  That's one of the things I like about Frank  He's one of those what you see is what you get type of guys.  He's a team player, in the expanded sense of the word.

This shows why Coach was such a great choice.  No prima donna.

Mike,

Could you cross post this story on the basketball forum.  I think there are many there who would enjoy it, and there are those who only view and post on the basketball side and never visit us here on the football forum.  Just a thought.

Edit: I've now read this story to several members of my family.  As, well as a BG fan over the phone.  This is legendary!

That's an awesome story.  Thanks for sharing.  It feels like Athens is one big family.  Bobcat nation is always present.
