Why break out the bag of tricks when the offense is clicking?

nothin secret....end a rounds...fake end a rounds.......bates is the slot.....a whole bunch of straight up plays...that  keep the defense guessing....make all aspects of the offense easier when the defense doesn't know what's comin...like #5 in the game IT's A RUN....can hear the players through the TV...

Frank has to be in a great place with this team and having 2 quality QB's. After watching some of last nights games it appears that other coaches are looking at trying some of the same things.
We have so many more options at our disposal with these 2. As we all know.....more options mean more success.

I guess I am stuck on symantecs of the term two quality QB's.  I see us with one quality QB, and one dynamic athlete who can make things happen with his feet who lines up at QB.  Face it, if Boo goes down we are a very one dimensional team that will have problems.  The 1st three games showed this.

Phil clearly has to work on his accuracy. He has a strong arm, but it does no good when he misses his target. He will be an amazing threat next year if he can improve that. For now, you are right, he's not much of a threat to throw the ball. His best passing play is a deep pass to McCrae, who is big enough and good enough to adjust to a ball that isn't thrown perfectly. He needs to throw a few to keep defenses honest.

I couldn't decide to chuckle or cuss on Tuesday when Frank pulled Bates on one 3rd down and sent Boo in only to see him run a QB sweep.  Had to be one to keep the OWWWS on their toes (claws?).  I don't think we made that first down, however, a point was made..

Must be an alternate universe we've entered.  I agree 100% with Wanny.

I don't know...I'll bet all the reps he got last week with Boo questionable had an impact.  I know he only threw once Tuesday night but it was a bullet and on target and let's not forget he's been nursing a shoulder injury as well.  I agree with the suggestion above though, we need to roll him out, and let him pull up a few times...That way we really maximize the uncertainty his presence brings...

Bates belongs in the backfield, although not necessarily as QB.  I'm happy with his current role (although he may not be), but it's hard to say whether this will continue in 2011...depends on whether Snyder can step up to the role of starting QB.

Excuse me but I believe the second game was against Toledo where Bates wasn't  the one dimension in that game of pick pick pick.  Let us resolve to not revise actual history.

True, but Bates had taken the Lion's share of the reps, and when he went down, Boo and his shoulder got all the reps, and his shoulder was not strong enough and he entered the game with a tired arm and it showed.  Toledo, Boo was a bandaid who had not had the time and reps to step into that role, and what we were doing offensivelly was geared to Phil's strengths not Boo's.  No revisionist history here.

What Wanamaker said.

Though, Wanny, I believe you were hanging with your 'he's the best choice...the coaches know more than you'll ever know' thinking back then when I wanted Franshaw in and it was obvious that our best chance was on his arm.

You need to go back on that one Monroe, I have always been behind Boo.  However I also knew the troubles he was having early on throwing the ball with his arm strength and stamina in that shoulder.
