[QUOTE=Flomo-genized]IBetter than the often referenced 1968 10-1 team that lost to Richmond in a bowl game that played Dayton and William & Mary in the non-conference schedule.

1960: 10-0
1929: 9-0 (outscored opponents 305-7... that's not a typo...305-7...How would you like to be the guy who gave up that TD?  In fact, from '29-31 Ohio went 24-1-1 and outscored opponents 704-53.... That's unbelievable... I don't care what era you played in... No wonder we play in "Peden" stadium...)
1968: 10-1

Now... if the 'Cats win out this year they would be a solid #4 for me...

I will give you that 60' MAC team as #1 based on how dominating it was and undefeated. The 1929 team played in the Ohio Athletic Conference with small private schools so you've got to look at the competition there. I'm saying this year versus 1968 is by winning out the Cats will have 11 overall wins most ever, the first bowl win, and the most ever 8 MAC wins. The reason why 1968 is so big around here is that is coincided with a great expansion of the school and a large amount of grads (1963-1973)can associate with that year. They all know that Cleve Bryant QB'ed that team and Todd Snyder was the star wideout. Nobody remembers anyobody from that 1960 team. The school only had 7,000 students back then and it was 50 years ago. Then a generation of grads on here remember when Cleve Bryant coached in the 80's and how terrible the cats were. The perception is built that this program had no success between 1968 and Frank when actually Ohio was a solid MAC team through the 70's and mostly OK during the Grobe-Knorr years. Ohio fell behind in the facilities arms race in the 80's as the school was struggling with enrollment. Now the school is back.

Who thought after going 1-3 we could finish the season in the Top 25?

I thought that the Bobcats could rebound to a winning season but that we are looking even better than last year at this point in the season is a surprise. The offense has become a heavy load for anyone to stop. The team looks capable of taking any non-BCS school short of Boise State and TCU right now.

One of the small private schools that the 1929 team beat was Indiana (the one in the Big Ten, not the one in Pennsylvania).  The score was 18-0.  They also beat Cincinnati 35-0.  They also beat Miami and West Liberty, niether of which is private, though the former likes to think they are.  According to a story I once heard, Ohio State was on the schedule for 1930, but they cancelled the game in the off season due to a real fear that they were going to lose.  The next year the team went 8-0-1, with the tie to West Liberty, a fairly powerful team at the time.
