I can't help but wonder, in the middle of my disgust, how different the game today might have been if a birth in the MAC championship game meant a chance to clinch a playoff spot.  What we had today was a morning kickoff with a crowd smaller than the average Friday night high school game, the "F Team" ESPN announcing and camera crew, and a viewship of a few thousand alumni, assuming you even get ESPNU.

Imagine if, much like basketball, winning a birth in the championship was your only ticket to the post season.  Would there have been a tiny crowd?  Would we have played like it mattered?  At least we wouldn't be wondering now if we're going to get invited to a third tier bowl game halfway across the country where we'll lose a couple hundred thousand bucks because we can't sell the 10,000 tickets we'e obligated to.

What a crappy system.  Much like the performance on the field today...
