they must be desperate to sell tickets. Kent has announced today that admission to the basketball game at 730 is free  with football ticket.

First off - Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Bobcats! The greatest American Holiday has always meant something in my family.

Well........here we are man - one game away from getting a shot at the title. I don't really care what Vegas says because I really think they leave homework on the table when it comes to the MAC.

We are good. Frank will be ready and so will the players. I really believe this season will be the catalyst for great things to come starting with the Kent Game this Friday.

The article on the financial situation for the MAC was hard to read. It seems damn near amazing we can compete given the ginormous difference in financial support but we are competing. Ohio is a football state IMHO. Because of that, we will get our share of recruits as this program moves upward. Couple that with the coaching staff's ability to pull out of state talent and we have a real chance to become something we have never been in my lifetime - a football school.

Having been around so (too) many buck tooth sidewalk alumni of osucks, we will never change the mindset in this state that is 40-50-60 years old. However, I have witnessed more students and non-alumni show their love for OHIO in the past few years than I can ever recall.

Moral of this rant: who cares what other schools do let's take care of our own business and good things will happen.

I am doing my part. My 9 yr old (without any instruction from me) refers to osu as "the other ohio" when she sees them on TV. It makes my day.

I know it is somewhat embedded in each of us to have doubt given the "choke jobs" in the past. Friday will not be one of those memories we want to forget.

Do I remember correctly 4 years ago at KSU-- during the windstorm/monsoon/hurricane-- THAT vctory which sent us bowling and to MAC championship game?

Ahhhhhh.. what a day!  WE didn't even notice the weather (maybe that's an understatement) because BOBCATS were making history.

AS the song says, "Let's DO IT AGAIN."

Go CATS!

So that I have this straight: Kent's players weren't good enough to keep Doug Martin's job, but now that he's gone, they're supposed to be better?

Nuh uh.  A beating is coming.  Ohio has been really good these last two years in East-sealing games.

Well, you may want to look at Colorado to see somewhat of a parallel situation.  Same players as before, different results by a long shot.  I'm not saying it's going to happen, but if you don't believe emotions play a big part in sporting event results, I think you're wrong.

Anyway, emotions aside, I'm not sure that I wouldn't empty the playbook if I were Kent.  What does Martin have to lose?  Pass on early downs or every down, all out-block kicks,on-side kicks-trick offensive plays-fourth down going for it-etc.  Ohio has been bit by some of those actions in the past, so why not?

Nothing to lose. Watched a local high school game this fall and saw a coach on-side kick five times in a row and recover four, blitzed nearly every down and took out a much more highly regarded team. Nothing to lose means turn the kids lose, Will be wise to coach up the team for what they might try.

The exact opposite could also occur.  Coach Martin could decide that he has recruits who may never see the field under a new administration so he wants to give them PT now.  Maybe he decides to start guys who have never seen the field just to reward them for their loyalty in committing to his program.  Maybe he is jacked enough with Kent that he decides to tank the game as payback for his firing.  Maybe Coach Martin has friends on the Ohio staff and wants to do them a favor in hopes that he just might get rewarded in return with a new job offer from some other program who has links to or friendship with the Ohio staff.  The possibilities are endless.  Remember, he no longer owes any loyalty to Kent.  They fired him.

I have several different businesses that I own.  When we dismiss an employee he is gone immediately, and I mean that day and at the time we give him the pink slip.  Why?  Because first off, we do not want that employee going back and having any impact negatively on anyone else in the organization.  Secondly, when we fire someone, we realize that at that moment that person no longer owes us any loyalty and can do anything to tank our system.  In other words, we do not give that person any more opportunity to affect our organization.  They are gone immediately, no matter how nice they may be.

Just sayin!

GO BOBCATS!

You may be right in your situation, but as far as I can tell, Martin announced his resigning after the last game because he knew he was going to be let go and he wanted to go out on his terms-let me coach my last game and let's see what happens. I think the absolutely last thing that will happen is that Martin will somehow try to sabatoge the football team. I am pretty sure that his players will be fired up for our game because Martin played his resignation the way he did.  Clever devil.  We had better be prepared for a real game from these guys.

The later part of this thread reminds me of the situation General Grant faced on the first day of his Wilderness campaign in 1864.  When it appeared Robert E. Lee was about to break through Grant's lines and the Union officers, accustomed to losing to Lee, starting asking Grant what Grant was going to do about Lee.  Grant, in true Grant fashion, responded that he was sick of hearing of what Lee was going to do and told his men he wanted to hear what they were going to do to Lee.

Gentlemen (and gentlewomen of the board), I'm tired of what Kent might or might not do in a lame duck coach's last game.  Kent State needs to worry about what we are going to do to them!!  I say we be the ones to play with nothing to lose!  I say we be the ones to lay it all on the line, go for it on 4th down, bring on the blitz, etc.-I SAY WE BE THE AGRESSORS AND TAKE IT TO KENT!!!!!!!

Now, back to my 3rd cup of coffee this morning.......

I am feeling very nervous about this game.  We need to stuff them on their first offensive drive.

No excuse so far. They came to play and we are not ready to play. Going to be almost impossible to put up 14+ on this Defense. What a disappointment so far.

Disagree big time.  We have looked terrible, but we could easily still score 4-5 touchdowns this game.  Not sure if that will happen or not, but it is certainly possible.  Just got to get it together.
