I know I am overly optimistic at times, it is just my nature, but why so much negativity? It seems there are several folks who only post on Bobcat Attack after Ohio plays poorly or loses.

Winning is a part of life and a part of football, so is losing. It is how we as a fan base respond that speaks volumes to anyone who might become interested in Bobcat football.

Are there issues? Yes, definitely. Does every team have issues? Yes definitely. Will we ever overcome them all, No, and neither will you or anybody else.

The main question is are you a fan only when we win?
You know what an armchair quarterback or coach is worth don't you?

We need to support this team when and if they go bowling. Each season is a building block and I have seen many things improve the past few seasons. Never lose sight of the fact that every team in every conference at any level is simply a work in progress and each game is simply a snapshot of where that team is on that particular day.

Good points, FJ.  Personally, I'm puzzled why we haven't seen the reappearance of our old friend, Dwight Bobcat.  Remember him?  Perhaps, he's posting now under a new name.  Yes, it's interesting that some of the more negative posters after a bad loss are names you don't recognize as "regulars" on the board or they are ones who "lay low" during the good times only to resurface during the bad.  Sort of "fair weather" non-fans in my book.  Now, we have some regular posters who go ballistic after each loss with huge emotional swings.  Those guys and gals I can respect because they are here for good times also and just live and die with Bobcats.

The target has changed. First it was Ohio can never win. Now it is that Ohio can win but it will never make any money. My personal opinion is that comapred to other FBS leagues the MAC has a great business model. Other schools out there are making more money but spending it all just to try and have a winning season in a big league conference. Winning would be even less of a guarantee for Ohio in a conference stronger than the MAC. The answer I think is to try and secure deep pockets for athletics that can endow the department.

I've been lurking and posting at a few sports boards for about 10 years.  It's not uncommon for these boards to have posters who embrace the "dark side".  They love to ridicule and chastize the "kool-aid" drinkers when something goes wrong. They love to use the "we told you so mantra" which makes them feel important and intelligent. What's funny is that any imbecile can find fault with teams that are on a losing pattern or who "lay an egg" on occasion.

The teams that have the most "darksiders" seem to be teams like OUr Cats.  Teams that have gone through some recent success and now are facing some losses and/or adversity.

They all say about the same thing about why they fail:

(1)  A coach or coaches are the problem

(2) Injuries or other losses are the culprit

(3)  Lack of funds or not being a big market team are the problem

(4)  Personnel changes or lack of same caused the downfall

And there are many other reasons from the administration to officiating.  The point is that some of these reasons or a combo of some are valid. They never seem to give the other team much credit.

Darksiders and Koolaiders make up the ying and yang of sports forums. They balance each other and make valid points.  The only time they destroy a forum is when one or the other takes over.  Then you have a sickening hate monger environment or a too sweet rose colored glasses scenario. I frequent those less or have left some for good.

Both need to realize that many teams have off games and that other teams can get fired up for victories....i.e. KSU.

Remember.....on any given day.....or month....or year.
