I agree.  Tough loss to close the season but all-in-all a solid year, especially after the injuries (and it's not just the best players on both sides of the ball, it's also all the OLs who went down before the season even started).

Today's game was the perfect storm.  Four real turnovers, two and a half other "essential" turnovers (two fake punts and an offsides penalty on an FG try).  Kent's fired up DL in the Ohio backfield on every snap.  You don't win games that way.

Hats off to the seniors, and I wouldn't worry about the naysayers today.  Thanks for keeping them quiet for the past seven weeks.

Agreed!  Thank you for being the first class in a very long time to have back-to-back winning seasons!

I had a lot of fun following this team this year. I had the opportunity to see every game except EMU (by choice) in person. For me each game/ weekend I spent following the Bobcats had atleast one memory that I will never forget. It helped make the experience that much more enjoyable that these seniors were able to pull together a great season. They beat Miami, they beat Temple and finished 8-4. Here's to health of the players, success in their professional careers, and the programs first bowl win. Go Bobcats

Agreed.  Thank you seniors.  But without the CAPS.  You can't really blame our fans for being upset though.  I mean...yes, there's people on here who need to take a cool-off day before posting, but   This one really hurt for both the players, coaches, and fans.  Tough to swallow.  We're all this together.

I think most if all of us respect and admire the efforts of the seniors and the team.  With that said, the MAC is not a quality league in terms of Division 1 football.  There are too many bowl games and in most years, I can't see more than two MAC teams being a worthy bowl team.  Teams who finish 6th and 7th in the Big Ten should not be going to a bowl and teams who finish 3rd and 4th in the MAC should not be going to a bowl game.  Week after week, the empty seats at MAC games illustrate that the MAC does not have much appeal.

I completely agree!  These seniors have worked very hard and will be dearly missed by the majority of the Bobcat nation.  Forget the negative wanna-be coaches on this board who really have no clue about the sacrifices the players and coaches have made to build a respectable program at Ohio University.  Thank you, Seniors!  You absolutely deserve a bowl for your outstanding effort this season.

Where are we with name-calling legislation? Apparently I have been censured by the mullahs, but this blitz character has been left unscathed.

Yeah, you're real original Christmas Vacation.

We're not in the Big Ten.  We're not in the SEC.  We're not in the Pac 10 or whatever BCS conference people would want us to run the table in.  We're in the MAC.  Aside from NIU, the MAC is not a strong conference, even by mid-major standards.  But COME ON, we started this season 1-3 and we're 8-4.  They stuck with their guns and kept pushing on through the season and ABSOLUTELY DESERVE postseason play.  Yeah yeah, there's like 30 some bowls, but who cares?  We're going to make the most of what we have to work with, whether the system is flawed or not.

GO CATS!  THANK YOU SENIORS!

I agree with the previous post. These Bobcats fought hard all year. They fought through Brutus Gate, injuries and off field situations, but still managed to win seven straight. Does anyone else remember that we once had a hard time winning three games in the MAC each year? Before you attack the players on the field, look at the support they have received from the student body, alumni and the community. Do we deserve a team who continually challenges for a MAC title? We have some very loyal fans, but let's face it, until we can fill 3/4 of a 20,000 seat stadium - we don't deserve this team. The team has far exceeded the investment the university and the fans has made in them. Job well done team!

Spot-on analysis and insight delivered with just a touch of DB. If we get invited to a bowl, will you make the trip? Will you cheer at the game? Will you cheer loud?.... doubt it, you faker.
Edit: Thank you Seniors and if we do go to a bowl, everybody knows that I'll be there cheering OUr CATS on to victory.

This is proof positive of the evils of the internet...Give a man a chatboard and a keyboard in the safety and comfort of ambiguity and this is the result...

Sir...You obviously have zero idea of what these kids have invested in their roles representing Ohio Universuty...

Scott, in your opinion, do scholarship athletes come to college to represent the institution whose colors they wear or to continue playing a game that they love?  This is not an OU football question but a general division 1 "major sport" question.

Agree!  Thanks to the BOBCAT SENIORS  for all of your hard work and dedication to our football program.  Thanks for deciding to play at Ohio University! You have helped to provide Bobcat fans with great memories of many wins.  Thanks to not only the seniors but also to the coaches and underclassmen.   The home games and road trips have been real fun.

Hi Alan...

I believe both...Obviously they love playing the game and they are furthering their education at the same time.  However I believe one they're on campus and wearing the colors on the field, it's inevitable that most develop an ellegiance both to their team and to the Alma Mater...At this level there's at least a partially emotional  reason they commit to a certain school over other offers.  Some obviously at the higher levels are there simply for draft stock but I believe the emotion we see in the locker room during post game celebrations is genuine.

+1 Jim.

These guys defijnitely put a foundation in place that future classes can build upon.

. I was impressed with Donovan Fletcher's interview after the Kent State game. Class. Wisdom. Maturity.
