Are you hoping the Bobcats get invited to a Bowl Game?

While it might be good for the program and/or the seniors, we hardly deserve it.  I still said yes, but I now doubt I will go if Ohio goes.

We are a program that has been to 4 bowl games in our history. Backing in or not, I think we'd be foolish to not want to go to a bowl game.

Please no more embarrassing games like this on national television. Until this team can dominate, consistently control the game, and WIN games should we accept another bowl bid.

We at least EARNED our previous bowl appearances.

In 2010, 8 wins is the absolute minimum we should have had with our schedule this season. ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. We met the minimum. No bowl earned, no bowl deserved.

I had a bad dream last night that we would get destroyed by Kent.  I really don't know how to feel right now.  I am at work and my co workers are making fun of me.  I am happy we will go to a bowl, but well what can I say.  How can we be so bad and stuff.  This game was like a bad, bad, dream like the one last night.  At least I don't have to go to Detroit.  Yeah, another pick!!!

Has there ever been an 8-4 (or 7-4 before 12 game schedule) deny a bowl invitation?  Has there ever been a MAC team deny a bowl invitation?  I highly doubt that.  This team played awful today, but they still finished 7-2 in conference play, went on a 7 game winning streak, and did all of this without arguably their two best players.

I thought I saw in another thread earlier that we had a 9-3 team in the 90s not get invited to any bowls.

I hope we get invited and I hope we accept.  We had an 8-4 record and should be bowling.  Maybe we get a better opponent than if we had played in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.  While we did lay an egg today, 8 other times this year we didn't and deserve to go bowling.  Many of the other teams that will go to a bowl this year lost their last game of their season and it won't stop them from accepting an invitation.

My point was I don't think a 8 win team has denied a bowl invitation. I would bet the house that a 8 win MAC team has never denied a bowl invitation. I can't think of any MAC teams that have ever denied a bowl invitation.

If we don't get invited, fine. But turn down a bowl? That's ridiculous.

We had an 8-3 team under Jim Grobe that stayed home because there were only 15 or so bowl games and they were monopolized by the Big 6.

This team is as deserving or more deserving of a bowl bid than half or more of the other bowl-eligible teams, so they should get an invitation and should accept.  Let's hope they put up a better effort than they showed today.

Actually, the Cats should do better than Idaho, weatherwise.  NIU will get Pizza; Fiami will get Godaddy; Temps will get Humanitarian.  The Cats should get something like Frisco, Birmingham or maybe New Mexico, although being so early in the season, getting folks to show up in NM on 12/18 would be tough.

Unless I'm mistaken, we have 8 wins...so by your logic we deserve a bowl.  Now according to my logic, if you have a winning season then you are deserving of a bowl.  We have a winning season, so let's go bowling if invited is what I say.

If Toledo holds on and wins today, there will be 5 MAC teams with 8 wins.  My bet is that one of them will be left out and if USC were eligible, the season for two teams would be over.  Now the question is who gets left at home.

I have a question for those who think we should decline a bowl invitation.  What kind of recruit would want to go to a school that would deny a postseason opportunity?  There is absolutely no upside in not going to a bowl.

If the choice is playing Boise or staying home, I wouldn't fault us for staying home.

Everyone else would, but I wouldn't.

I'd be curious to know how many teams EVER have denied bowl invitations, outside of the occasional high-and-mighty Notre Dame types that some years think it's beneath them to go to a bowl when they're 6-6.  How many have actually turned down a bowl just because of finances?

I sure can't think of any.
