Thanks to all for the comments on the ESPN scenario thread.  And I’d like to send a special thanks to Youngstown Bobcat for the graphics.  Your skills far out distance mine.

Across the board, the consensus appears to be KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid.  Forget the somewhat convoluted ESPN plan (again, one of many).  So, since the Bobcat bowl season is about to present itself, let’s put this issue to bed and move on.  Please vote on one of the following scenarios (hope this works - it almost did, full answers below).

I’m a fan of the Big Dogs – 16-team playoff.  Simply take the top 16 BCS ranked teams and leave conference tie-ins out of it.  ‘Hey MAC, If you can’t run with the big dogs…”

I’m a traditionalist - 16-team playoff.  Include conference tie-ins for all 11 conferences and then supplement with 5 at-large.  In most years this would include the top 12 BCS teams, even this year, all top 10 BCS ranked teams would make it. Take those 16 teams, seed ‘em and play.  It works for March Madness and it keeps the lawyers away.

I’m a pragmatist – The big dogs will grab for everything they can get, the little guys need to take what they can.  20-team playoff that incorporates the play-in games for the bottom four conference champs as ranked by BCS (ala the ESPN plan - this year would be UConn, Northern, Sun Belt and USA – play-ins are part of March Madness…).  This adds two at-large spots for the BCS conferences – In most years, this means the top 14 BCS teams get in, plus all conference champs.  Everyone can stop bitching.

I’m a BCS fan – what we have is pretty darn good.  Maybe a tweak or two, but I don’t want a playoff.

I’m a Miami Red Chicken alum and fan.  I really don’t care if there is a playoff because we suck and will never make it anyway.  We are happy if we finish ahead of Temple.

Again, thanks for the input.  Now, GO CATS!!

What? No option for us old school Luddites?  I must be the only one left who wants to both abolish the BCS and ash can all the playoff talk.

My agenda:
re-establish traditional bowl match ups,
forget a playoff,
unplug the computers,
let popular sentiment crown a champion or multiple champions
and the pay off is:

we'll all have something to disagree about that is directly connected to the actual games instead of to ESPN and who gets what money to play where.

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part.  In my plan the Ohio Bobcats will always be as good as or better than any other team out there until I'm proven wrong in head to head competition..
