Golden is on the list for the Minnesota and Vandy jobs, but SI noted something that might hold him back: His Temps team has not beaten a MAC team that finished the season with a winning record.  Checking Temps' media guide, they were 0-3 against winning MAC teams in '06 (WMU, NIU, CMU); 0-1 in '07 (BG), although they beat Fiami, which was 6-6 in the regular season but lost a bowl; 0-3 in '08 (Buffalo, WMU, CMU) -- they beat the Cats who finished 6-6; 0-1 in '09 (OU); and 0-3 this year (OU, Fiami, NIU).

And ESPN in their last blog about the Minnesota job is saying he has at least a $2,000,000 buyout!  If so that's hard to believe he would have signed up for that. I guess he's only going with the big boys when he leaves Temple.

Since leaving the Big East, Temple is 4-37 vs. bowl eligible teams.

Not exactly dominant.

MAC teams? We beat Army and UConn this year....

Golden is only going to PSU, Virgina or Maryland...possibly Rutgers.. he's going to stay in his recruiting wheel house.

Won't sniff PSU? I douby he gets it but his blue-and-white ties certainly keep him in the mix.

Many in Happy Valley feel Golden burned some bridges in the abrupt fashion he left PSU for UVA.

He's making close to 1 million over at Temple so I guess his big buyout wouldn't be a surprise then.

If these reports about what Al's deal is are accurate then he has a bigger problem on his hands.
Temple could fire him since he is obviously not getting it done.

Al Golden has done a great job at Temple.  When he took over they were one of the worse teams in the nation.  Granted he has not gotten to the top of the MAC heap yet, but they have been a player in the conference since he has arrived.

Temple dominates the All-MAC first team with 8 selections, compared to one each for Miami and Ohio. And yet Temple falls to both teams.

Another knock on Golden?

Using a drug addict in reference to Temple - comes with the neighborhood I guess.

Let's see if I understand you, MH55. Are you saying that having more individuals on the All-MAC team is more important than winning games on the field?       Interesting.

At least at the end, Elvis died in the bathroom. Temple just $h!t all over themselves.

Im just saying perception is reality and like it or not, "]["emple is the marquee team in the MAC, certainly at least the East. Right now there are 5 Bowl Directors trying to lure the "]["emple Football Owls to their Bowl Game.

You don't?

He played well less than half of Temple's snaps and still was 2nd in the MAC in rushing TD's.

He had one run V Ohio and went for 60 yards. It was an illegal formation that brought the play back.

We led both NIU and Penn St when he went out of the game.

What else do you need to know about how a 1st Team all Mac'er affects play?

marquee (adj.)- from the French, meaning "in 3rd place", or "can't  beat MAC teams with winning records."
ex.- Hey Joe, did you see that Marquee team choke on a big fat one two weeks in a row on national television?

see also- delusional.
