At the start of the day there were 70 bowl-eligible teams for 70 bowl spots. There were four teams that were trying to get to 6-6 so that they could also become bowl-eligible.

Louisiana Tech: LOST
Oregon State: LOST
Middle Tenn State: Down by 7 points early in the second quarter
Washington: Game begins at 7 p.m. EST

Am I to understand that Western Michigan will go to a bowl if MTSU and Washington lose? I know a Washington loss is unlikely, but on any given Saturday...

Also, are the Bobcats so high on the bubble that they wouldn't go to a bowl at all if there are 71 teams available?

That is the question.

I have to believe that we're in at this point (who knows what bowl). Worst case scenario, there will be 72 bowl-eligible teams for 70 spots. I really think the bowls will take Ohio over WMU and MTSU. We might be last team in, but we'll be in.

That being said, I'd like to see the last two games go our way (FIU and WSU wins) -- it would be cool to see SIX MAC teams play in bowl games.

Question 1: Yes, WMU would go a bowl because there would only be 70 teams available.

Question 2:  No.  OU at 8-4 would have priority over WMU at 6-6.  In this regard, Fiami's win last night may have helped OU's position because OU beat Fiami this year.

Now if both Wash and MTSU win, there would be 72 teams and both OU and WMU may be left out.

Temple, Toledo and Ohio played their 12th game a week ago, all are bowl eligible and have no guarantee.  But what are the rules regarding practice while they have been waiting--were the Bobcats at it this past week?

With Washington State down 14 nearing halftime, I've become a big FIU Golden Panthers fan. From the twitter feed, it sounds like momentum is with FIU, not MTSU late in the 3rd quarter. MTSU leads by 1 (21-20).

It is becoming apparent that there will be at least 71 teams for the bowls to choose from.

I could be wrong, but I believe a team is allowed 15 practices.  And I think in a prior thread earlier in the week, someone said that because of Ohio's financial situation, they were only going to practice for a week before their bowl game.

And Elton Alexander might be right after all, 2 MAC teams could face each other in the LCPB.

So with MTSU and Washington wins, there will be 72 teams vying for 70 bowl spots. We can assume WMU is out of contention. Who will be the second team SOL? Will we be picked before a 6-6 Sun Belt MTSU?

I can't take this -- I just want to know where we're bowling, and who we are playing!

Note my consistency...Temple should be out.  They've lost to MU, OU and NIU.  'Nuff said.
