Heh, just kidding anyways. But, man if we if we can't win the MAC, getting that first bowl win is all the more key.

-- And just checked the Las Vegas bowl game and that is another one I might actually be able to go to.

I want the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31.  I might be able to get to this one with my wife.  I'd call it Bill Hess' Revenge Bowl.  Go OHIO!

Edit: I'm going to bed.  Thanks for all the fine detective work and updates WBF.  I really appreciate it.  See you guys and gals tomorrow, same bat channel.

I hope we find something because I'm a little bit worried to be honest because the MAC has 6 bowl eligible teams

Miami (Oh)      8-4   I don't want to talk about them, but once again thanks for the Mugs
Ohio                 8-4
Temple            8-4- Media loves Temple and they are believed to be the best in the conference by outsiders
Northern Ill     10-2- Currently the top dog in MAC should win C-Ship and play Little Ceasers
Toledo             8-4- Good chance and deserve a bowl game played a great season with several big wins
Western Mich 6-6- Slim chance but crazier things have happened

Order I believe the teams will go in the mac for bowls
1.Northern Illinois
2.Miami (OH)
3.Temple
4.Toledo
5.Ohio
6.Western Michigan

Right now Rivals has Ohio vs. Miaml (FL) in the Sun Bowl on Dec 31.  That would be an awesome matchup.  Not to count our chickens, but a question: if Ohio did land in this bowl with an almost $2mil payout, does Ohio get that money or does it go to the MAC and then get distributed among the schools?  Not sure what the arrangement is.

I think the media lovefest for Temple might be overrated.  Getting beat on in their last two games in the season may not look so good in some bowls' opinions.

College Football News has us in the Humanitarian.

Not a game I want......as it puts us into an away game against a pissed off Boise squad.

Northern Illinois has requested the MAC send them to the Bowl with the best opponent regardless of payout.  They have specifically asked for Boise State, we will see the chips fall next weekend.

I would change my mind and go if we play Miami on 12/31. I can make that work in the schedule and take back my bitter statement after the Kant Game. Boise, Boise State, cold, dates - OUT.

You're welcome. I really enjoyed it. Reminded me of something I saw on MNF in the mid 80s.  Remember Foster Brooks, the "drunk comedian?" Two weeks to go in the season and it seemed every team had a shot at the playoffs. He went through, team by team, explaining how each team could get it. Of course he got completely confused, and it was hilarious. Can't find it on You Tube though, sorry.

Landing in the Sun Bowl would be pretty neat.  I would consider that one of the top 8 or 10 bowls overall, considering the history, TV deal, etc.  That would be a best possible scenario in my book.

In contrast, a road game at Boise State would be the worst possible scenario.  The location is bad enough, and then add in a possible 50+ point beat down, and I would pass.

I've looked at some of the online projections -- CBS, CFN, ESPN, etc.  Some have us playing Troy in the GoDaddy, some have us playing Boise in the Humantarian, some have Toledo playing NC State in the Sun.  One, I think, had Temple playing Miami (FL) in the Sun.  I couldn't find one that had us playing in the Sun.  I would think that if a MAC team were to make the Sun Bowl it should be us.  What do UT or Temple bring that we don't?  I don't think either would travel any better than us; not saying we travel all that well, but neither does UT or Temple.  And, We GOT FRANK, and they don't!

Espn bowl bound updated today and are predicting us back in the pizza bowl versus NIU. Maybe the one scenario I would turn down.

I still remember our first bowl invite from the Sun Bowl in 1962.  There had been a lot of talk that we would get a bowl bid toward the end of that season.  Then we lost two of our last three games -- 7-6 to BG and then 31-22 to Iowa State -- to finish 8-2.  We actually played a fairly good game against ISU and had chances to win.  They had a very good QB who made some key completions that doomed us toward the end of the game.

After that Iowa State loss, I was really dejected.  It looked like we had blown our chances of a bowl bid.  However, there was a slight chance we would still be selected, according to the local media.  I remember when the selection date arrived (a Sunday, I think it was) I stayed glued to the radio (WATH, I believe) all afternoon long and listened for the hoped for announcement.  As the afternoon wore on, I became somewhat desponded and was starting to feel that we were going to be passed over.  Then, all of a sudden, they broke into some music that was playing -- breaking news -- Ohio had been selected to play in the Sun Bowl!  I was so excited!!  I ran downstairs and told my parents and my sisters!  We were going to our very first bowl!!!  There was probably not a more excited person in all of Athens.

Perhaps, you can understand why, for sentimental reasons, I'd really love to go back to the Sun Bowl.  On top of that, it's one bowl that my wife says we could probably go to.
I hope I haven't bored you folks, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Uh, ESPN's Adelson is saying that if Mid Tenn wins this week they will play in the LC against a MAC team since the Sun Belt has a backup tie-in.  If that's true we better be hoping FIU wins this week, therwise we could be out.  Aren't we about the last one on the bubble right now?  Maybe Washington will lose a rival game with WSU and open another spot up.

All of these scenarios stink!  I don't want to play Troy, but if it comes down to them or Miami or Boise, I think I would rather play Troy and get the win as opposed to likely getting shellacked.
