I know we're not the local team, but one would think that the Columbus Dispatch would list or mention some of the Ohio teams playing in bowls. The only thing they had was a chart with all the bowls listed.

Newspapers are becoming extinct.

They will do a good job previewing each of the Ohio MAC teams, you have to give them a chance, and you will see coverage leading up to the games.

Let's hope so.

As soon as they do their 18th sidebar on how the Sugar Bowl will be a showcase for Pryor to start his Heisman campaign for next season.

I hope the Dispatch does, they should that is their hometown team.  If anyone wants to sharpen knives at the media, I bet the Messenger runs more OSU Football articles than OHIO, or at least a close to even ratio between now and the respective games.

I forget who I complained to this about at the Dispatch, but basically I was told by the columnist that the Sports Director makes the decision on what stories to report and most of the time that guy ignores the MAC, even though at least one his columnists is an alum from a MAC school and would be more than happy to cover us.

The Dispatch is delivered to my door every morning and when I'm out of town I read the electronic edition regularly.  Their coverage is always predictable, if nothing else. If you want to read Ohio University coverage you just have to learn the rules,

1. OSU sports always come first.
2. Ad revenue comes second (See no.1)
3. Upcoming Big TelevEN opponent is always third
4. Blue Jackets come next (1 day before and after a game only)
5. high school sports - All but especially Satch Sullinger, CCL and Dublin
6.  Browns, Reds, Indians, Bengals, Steelers (and Cavs, if they must)
7. Deer hunting
8. Ohio Bobcats
9. Tiddly Winks
10.  All other Ohio colleges.

That's it.  Adjust your expectations accordingly and you will never be disappointed.

In all honesty, I applaud the Dispatch for any coverage of Ohio sports.  As was mentioned earlier, newspapers are dying.  It's like being named in your uncle's will.  The day that the Taylor team of dealerships starts paying for the "OU Weekly Athlete Spotlight", I'm sure things will improve.

Guys, c'mon.  The Dispatch coverage of Ohio is better than you're letting on here.  It's not great, but fairly decent.

I'm with Jeff. If there's any sort of controversial event, the Dispatch will be there in minutes to get the word out.

When Frank was named coach I wrote a letter to the editor. I asked if he expected to give Ohio additional coverage due to this high profile hiring. His comments to my question did get printed in the Sunday edition where they have the letters to the editor section. His answer was, as most are, a very flipit type response.
I would think that prior to the game on the 18th they will run at least 1 article, probably should run several about the team and about the game. I wouldn't expect a 10 page, pull out, insert like they will have for the Buckeyes but somehing more appropriate. If we come out winning then all the success since Franks arrival would have all the makings of a great follow up story for the next week.

I do not buy a Columbus Dispatch for the reason  that they give very little coverage to THE BOBCATS or the MAC .   I love  it when somebody tries to sign me up for the Dispatch - I tell them that they don't cover my team - the BOBCATS  or the MAC.
Same reason that I don't listen to 610 A.M.   610 A.M. with old 9-3 earl bruce really puts OU and all of the MAC teams down big time.    bruce refers to us as the sisters of the poor.  when osu played us and Eastern Michigan he said that osu should just send us a welfare check.
