So just out of curiosity, how many students/guests does one of these buses hold?

P.S. I know of many friends, friends that wouldn't even attend a game in Athens (for various reasons), going to this bowl game because of the bus deal. This appears to be the single greatest marketing campaign in Ohio Bobcat History. Hopefully the result will be legendary.

On many of the tour busses I've been on they're about 50 or so per bus... i don't know what company they're using or what kind of busses they have though, so it's hard to say for sure....

If it's 50... 6 busses is 300 students.... For two days of marketing, that's amazing...  As this thing spreads on facebook and twitter I bet it keeps growing.

Are they capping the numbers?  It'd be absolutely amazing if we ended up with over 500 students in New Orleans...

Also, this is going to help our resume for future bowls so much... Bowls are about butts in seats... if we can start traveling well we may start going to some pretty cool places...

We really... really.... need to kick some serious Trojan behind in NOLA.... this could be the start of something special...

I'm heading to the game, I couldn't pass up the deal. I agree that this campaign was an ingenious idea... we could possibly out number Troy's student section...

While I'm enjoying this idea and taking advantage of it, I'm going to hate to see the opinion columns in the school papers about the school "wasting" money like this because let's face it, the university probably is spending an arm and a leg for this.  Now am I complaining?  Heck no, this is the only way I'm able to get there so I love it...1 final game to watch the bobcats as I'm graduating in the spring and I get to do it in the superdome for only 40 bucks.  Hopefully we sell out the student section.  GO OHIO!!!

Unfortunately you're probably right....

if there are hundreds of students going we may not hear anything though because it flys right in the face of the argument that students don't care... it's hard to say that students don't value athletics with hundreds of kids riding in a bus for that long to see a football game...

This is how it starts.  There will be new fans who begin following with this trip.  It will be worth it, memories for a lifetime.

B I N G O;

Win this game and start off hot next year and it could get very interesting.

This is dead on genius marketing by the University.

I just rode a MegaBus today from NYC to Pittsburgh. It was a doubledecker and had wifi and outlets. We had 36 people and there were a bunch of empty seats. Probably held 60-70 total. I wouldn't be surprised if we took similar models to NOLA.

I agree that this is an amazing marketing campaign. I've been on vacation for the past few days and didn't check my school email until this morning. When my girlfriend and I saw this deal we immediately called the ticket office (standing outside on a corner in the West Village) and booked our spots. We called our parents afterward and they couldn't believe how cheap it was.

FWIW the bus from Pittsburgh to NYC took 8 hours and it wasn't bad at all. I could easily endure double that for this trip. The outlets were great, but there was only one for every two seats. Also the wifi seemed to cut out a lot so I recommend having some movies or games on your computer in case it goes down.

Forgive me for being cynical, but, based on the number of students who show up for
for home games, and  stay after 1/2 time,I wonder if anyone else thinks that some
students may be  looking at this offer as cheap way to get some winter break time in
New Orleans and may just skip the game and hang out  on Bourbon Street ?

One of the attractions in Nawlins is the Superdome....even if they only stay until half they probably wouldn't want to waste a ticket.

I think it helps with our ticket sales......and you would think that the majority  of the students would at least be sports fans.....maybe a chance to see where their fave team the Buckeyes will play in a few weeks.

Will some skip the game?  Bourbon Street is intoxicating....literally and figuratively.

A ticket sold is a ticket sold.  That is what will be registered with the bowl folks.  Will a few kids skip the game?  Perhaps, but only a handful at best.  That's a long ride for a drink.  Plus, it looks like the hotel stay is Friday night (so they hit the street that night.  Go to the game Saturday and hit the bars and get on a bus 3:00 a.m. or so?  Does anyone know when the bus departs New Orleans?

I heard it's leaving a half hour after the conclusion of the game, not sure if that is true or not. I think anorris contacted the ticket office and that is what they told him. For those of us who aren't 21, I would hope we don't stay too long after the game because what would those people do at a time as late as that while everyone else wants to go to the bars?

I will tell you this, you DO NOT want to get arrested in New Orleans, and they only tell you once before you are up against the wall or face down.  It is a great and fun city, but not a place you want to be in "trouble"

Boo Jackson was really promoting this bus trip on Facebook last night. At that time, he said there are seven buses.

" ‎7 Buses going to New Orleans for the Bowl Game! Stops in Columbus Cleveland and Cincinatti. $40 YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS Transportation from those cities to New Orleans also pays for your Ticket to the game and a ONE NIGHT STAY at the Hotel the team is staying at HIlton Riverside New Orleans This deal cannot be beat. Take ...a day off of work for a GREAT TIME IN NEW ORLEANS WITH FELLOW STUDENTS!! COME SUPPORT YOUR BOBCATS!!"

It's great to see players getting fired up about the fan turnout coming to New Orleans.

Just saw on Facebook that the student packages are sold out. Haven't confirmed it anywhere, but if it's true that is amazing.

Just so everyone knows. We are SOLD OUT of the bus trip for students. We filled 9 buses with a total of 450 students. If you know any students still interested in going they can still receive a free student ticket and can stay in the team hotel which is the Hilton New Orleans Riverside for $84 for 2 people per night. Just mention the Bowl Game when they call. Transportation will also need to be established by the student themselves.

So for scale, if you were to fill the front four sections of the basketball O Zone to capacity, that's basically the number of students who will be on this bus trip.

Hopefully more students will still try to make it despite the package deal being sold out.  That would just be awesome to have at least 500 or even 1,000 students there (yes I know, it's a long shot to have that many but hey, I like to dream big).  Do we know how many alumni are going to be present?
