Cheap shot.
Bates didn't give up close to 400 yards in the 1st half.

The defense is a separate issue. However, a qb that can't pass on a team with average running backs gives the cats no hope to come back. I was actually glad to see Bates throw the ball deep on the first possession. I think the defense has no respect for the pass when he is in. It is less about him than the ability of the team when he is behind center. If he can pass, let him pass more. Recently the running game hasn't worked with him in.

The defense is doing little to stop Troy - but it doesn't help when the offense goes THREE & OUT every time.It's not hard to figure out the Cats offense with Bates at QB. Who knows what may have ;happened if Boo had been in there.
