Game swung on a dirty play -- tackling the BG QB out of bounds and causing a potential concussion. Second string QB gave it a valiant effort, but fell short.

And BG's inability to control NMS's QB was a major factor.

Yes, they could have still won the game if they'd had a decent 3rd down defense. They seldom stopped them on third down, and one time it was as a result of penalty. In NM State's final run-out-the-clock drive I think they converted about four or five consecutive first downs, several were third and long. In many cases NM State ran the same play -- QB run around right side of line after faking a pass or not. BG just could not stop it.

Pretty simple, from what I saw, on 2 or 3 third-and-long on game's final drive. BG contain end did not do what his position title says - contain. A stop on one of those 3rd-and-long conversions would have left BG with plenty of time for a winning TD.

Well, according to another post thread on here then the BGSU team gained valuable life lessons worth more than what NMSU team will gain from this win..... :/

Thought BG was punching above their weight all season just to get to 6 wins.

The QB, Pavia, from NMSU was nice. Tough kid.

I thought Orth played really well also. Not looking forward to seeing him for the next few years.

Side Note: Buffalo plays today vs GA Southern and former USC coach Clay Helton and former-buffalo QB Vantrease.

You ain't kidding about BG. I'm hoping they make a move and send Loeffler packing for the betterment of the conference.

BG and New Mexico State were almost certainly the worst two teams to make a bowl. BG won games all year by catching teams when their best players were out. They, not surprisingly, could not beat Ohio without Rourke and they got blown out several times and lost to EKU. Ironically, it is very likely that NMSU only won this game because McDonald got knocked out early.
