the line play.

Maybe we have some potential playmakers on our Offensive and D-Fence lines.  Maybe someones will start to show it on the field.

This club needs some playmakers.  Some dominators.  2010--not so much.

I think that is one area that we were lacking in this year.  Sure Boo like Gman said had his Joe Montana days (coupled with a few Hannah Montana days) and running backs like Davidson had a nice game or two....even D-backs like Fletcher and linebackers like Clemens had their games, but no one seemed to light it up game after game.

The 2 lines were perfect examples.  Some games the O-line were pancake city and other games cement overshoes. The D-line was steady but not Kent State linemen games where one guy can get multiple sacks.

I call it the WOW factor. After watching game after game of Keller  and Moore on D and Brazil on O I always uttered that word.  The good news is that those 3 will return  after a year off.

It's possible that we have some WOW factor guys in waiting.  John Prior is a WOW type offensive lineman who will be eligible.  DL guys Huynh and Jones return and they just need more PT. It's possible that this recruiting class has some DL guys that have it.....big dudes who run 4.6's and 4.7's in the forty and can rush the passer.....i.e. Disruptive Linemen as Monroe calls em.

Cheer up Cat Fans.....me thinks this recruiting class will renew your spirit....and I'm looking forward already to Gmans first tailgate.

What Monroe said.  However, the 2010 lines were not bad, they were better than before, contender level, good, just not championsip level.  Next year should be better yet, add some retuning studs from injury and well it should be fun to watch.  I do know these coaches and athletes work a lot harder than I and it is still great to be an Ohio fan.

I feel like maybe I should apologize for being so negative.  But no..not yet anways.

I understand that players can't be better than they are.  So, I'm not blaming anyone for not being All-American.  Just pointing out that, though we may be deeper than ever now, we are not going to improve unless a guy or two (at least) on each side of the line becomes ferocious.

Look at the teams which we beat this year.  Not impressive.  By results (points for, points allowed) against good competition we are a long way from what is desired.

The first sign will be when our defense just refuses to give up more than 10 points a game.

This staff recruiting better...

We CAN compete at a high level in the MAC with what we have now (vast majority of 2 star recruits).  We CANNOT compete with other Conferences (including CUSA and the Sun Belt) or lower level BCS teams with what we have now.

So, again, the obvious is bigger, faster, stronger MORE HIGHLY rated (3 star, not 5 star) recruits.  Please, lets get some!
