Item on Yahoo's front page cites Camden, N.J. as having the worst crime stats in the nation.  Isn't that where temples is located?!

Whatever.

Camden is the northern half of Temple's campus.  Right next to Princeton.  Rutgers is on up the garden state closer to NYC.

Understood, DCat.  Nonetheless, I see the mere existence of the stench mh55 that is temples as the main factor in Camden's situation.

Monny Honey,

the "N.J." is abbreviated for New Jersey. Are you so obsessed with the Cherry & White that you are now linking what may happen in another State with "]["emple University? btw, here is what 32,000+ college fans playing in a beautiful stadium looks like

HTML fail.

Also, love that we're supposed to be stunned by 32,000.

Cmon, can you show me Atheninans more enthusiastic? Unemployment extensions and a new Subway franchise don't count. How many more than 32,000 will you get for your first 4 home games?

That might be the ugliest first 4 home games in FBS and that ain't lyin. I'll email a coupon for a 6" ham on 9 grain if you can submit one worse...

A couple of points I'd like to make...

1. That beautiful stadium doesn't even belong to you

2. A rivalry game is going to always be packed. Peden was packed two years ago when Miami came to town.

3. Villanova has a better chance of getting into the Big East right now then Temple. That has to leave a sour taste considering that if Nova finds Big East football success, Temple will suffer from little brother syndrome from three institutions. (PSU,PITT,Nova)

So, let's see....
The opponent was Villanova, which is also from the Philly area.
The city of Philly has 1.5 million people.
One in every eight college grads in the Philly area is a Temps grad, and there are 140,000 Pennsylvanians who are Temps grads (according to 125 facts about Temps).
And all you could get were 32,000 Temps AND Nova butts in a 60,000+ seat stadium?

Noticed a lot of fans in the upper two decks and the end zone who were wearing their invisibility cloaks.

I remember what 16,433 looked like in that same stadium last November.  It looked like OHIO 31, Temps 23.

Nearby Egg Harbor has the "library", a place to get great stakes behind a stack of books. One of those 125 TU facts is that the "library" has more books in it than the entire Temple University Campus System.

Don't have to go far -- we'll stay in the MAC:

OU has:

Gardner 4-7
Terd 5-7
Kent 5-7
BSU 4-8

That totals 18-29.

WMU has:

Nichols St. 4-7
CMU 3-9
BG 2-10
BSU 4-8

Total: 13-34

Instead of sending me a coupon for a sub, MuttonHead, give $100 to a homeless shelter.

Patalaska,
I would have to agree with you. With 3 MAC games combining with a Nichols St visit, WMU's first 4 home games are somehow even worse than Ohio's despite Woeful, I mean Gardner Webb. This thing we call the MAC is embarrassing, isn't it?

I suspect we"ll have 35,000 for Nova this year. There will be 65,000 for Penn State (again) and another 30,000+ for Army. Cant fault Mr Chryst for trying to bring some credibility to the league with the addition of Temple Football and its Two NCAA Tourney basketball teams.

Good day.

M55 is the definition of the word pathetic.  Kicked off your own fan site, so you spend work hours trolling the site of a competitor who has owned you on the gridiron when it mattered most.

Yeah, Temps football really was remarkable as an indy after being booted from the Big Least:

2005: 0-11 (Ls against BGSUCKS 69-7; Fiami 41-14; Toledo 42-17; WMU 19-16)
2006: 1-11 (Ls against WMU 41-7; NIU 43-21; CMU 42-26; Kent 28-17; Buffalo 9-3; only W vs BGSUCKS 28-14)

Record vs MAC teams: 1-9
Record vs everybody else: 0-13

I'm sure the ACC was beating down the doors at Vivacqua Hall, begging the Hooties to come join.

And I'm sure that at least 2/3 of the fans at the three games you cited won't be wearing cherry.  In a market of 1.5 mil, something's wrong if you don't get at least 40,000 every game.  I realize that you're competing with a lot of other events (the Ice Capades, the Saturday afternoon Quaker quilting circle), but if you're as good as you think you are, that shouldn't be a problem.

Temple fans like to moan about how the MAC is holding them back from having bigger home attendance numbers while at the same time pretending that they didn't have the same or worse attendance when they were in the Big Least. They think that somehow Temple fans will magically appear if they just book more BCS teams.

So to hide his inferiority complex MH55 comes over here and tries to deflect by calling out OUr OOC schedule and predicting low attendance.

But once again, fantasy is ruined by fact. Let's look at the numbers.

In 2010 Temple's highest attendance for a home game (Nova doesn't count, same city) wasn't UCONN, it was Bowling Green. They're from the MAC, btw. And it wasn't close- BGSU- 23,045; UCONN- 18,702.

By comparison, OHIO hosted UCONN a year earlier and had 24,617. Explain that one MH55, how can Temple only get 75% of the fans OHIO can to watch a home game vs UCONN? You've got the bigger town, former conf rival, same region, big NFL stadium, and a "heisman candidate" (lmao) at RB. How is that possible??

Meanwhile we get 22,955 to come see FCS Wofford, so compared to Temple, we're not worried about our OOC affecting our attendance.

Have fun high hiving yourself as you inflate your attendance numbers by playing teams that bring 10X the fans you do. That's really something to be proud of.

Absoluetly gotta love the rationalization taking place on this thread. I particularly enjoy the fact the fella that started it, Monny Honey, is so enchanted with Athens County he made his home a mere 2,300 miles from it. That's only 4 hours away with two Pratt &Whitney Engines churning at 90% power...

Upon leaving my bachelor party in Athens, my non-Bobcat friends (they both went to Duke) told me that they would come back to Athens anytime I wanted. The sooner the better. In fact they were blown away by Court street and how crazy it is. We all know how incredible that place is but it's nice when it gets confirmed by non-partial observers.

Athens' population increased 3.7% from 2000-2010.  Philly's increased 0.4%.
