How does anyone see us going only 7-5 vs that schedule. Rutgers won't be favored by more than 14 points against us and a MAC team isn't gonna be favored against us. Buffalo, Akron, CMU and BGSU are the road games and all four are coming off bad years. Our hardest games with Kent  st, Temple and Miami are all at home and those three schools have new coaches and new systems to put in. The fact that we didn't change coaches and have those games at home should make us the team to beat in the East.  If we stay healthy we win atleast 10 games. Frank had his best recruiting class and we got depth on the O-line.  We get Brazile and Keller back from injury and those are all-MAC first teamers that missed most of last year.  You have to be on crack not to have Ohio as the team beat in the east. Changingcoaches means struggles for MAC schools. Coaching is everything in football.  Its gonna be between Toledo and Ohio for the MAC title. NIU  has a new coach so they likely fall behind Toledo which should be very good in the west. Its a big loss when you lose the head coach. Teams don't exactly lite it up the first year after coaching change. Even BCS schools struggle during the first year.

Assuming Pierce has the same operation Wolverine had to replace his brittle bones and tendons with something other than the china of which they are currently made, perhaps, and assuming they can actually show up in Peden.  However, I'll stick with the Cats, thanks.

7-5 is a little pessimistic, but I don't see this team going much better than 8-4 or 9-3.  We effectively lost our entire defensive line, have no returning QB experience, no impact RB, and return an offensive line that was inconsistent at best.  Sure if all the stars align we could win 10 games, but given the history of football at Ohio, even under Solich, anyone expecting an undefeated season this year is setting themselves up for disappointment in my mind.

Well, I agree with most of this post. But, we do have Bates returning who has starting QB experience. Is he the answer, well that I'm just not sure of. Will he be at a different position next year? I doubt it. He came here to play QB and that's prolly a promise that Coach Solich will keep. He's too talented to keep on the bench, but we're a one dimensional team when he's taking the snaps. To say the least, there are some serious question marks at QB. I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar to last year's two-QB model.
At RB, D. Foster won't have to sit the first four games this year, which could help the running game. He just could have a break-out year. After all, he has shown glimpses of greatness. But, for the most part he's lacked durability and hasn't really lived up to his potential.
All in all, I do think OHIO will be the team to beat in the East. However, if temps and fiami can survive the coaching transitions, we could be in for a tough ride. It'll be nice having these games at home.
Ten wins would be pleasant surprise, but I don't think its totally a long-shot.

The prediction says Ohio likely will finish 7-5. Right below that is says that the dirty birds will likely finish.....7-5
Hmmmm...

It does sound to me that Ohio should just quit this year because with mighty Temple in our division
WE ARE DOOMED!!

These kinds of preseason reviews always put too much importance on a returning QB, and not enough on returning offensive linemen, in my opinion.  If the line is as good as I think it will be, all the QB's are going to look better. This review also, not surprisingly, isn't aware of the return of players like Brazill, Keller, and Moore.

If Temple is so much better then why do they keep getting their asses beat by the CATS?

Explains a lot.

The only "thriller" you have is playing Villanova.

I can't think of a more fitting gift for MH55 than a first round ouster handed to Temple by Big Brother...

Temple stinks. Blasted by the Bobcats 2 years in a row. Breaking in a new coach for 2011 plus Pierce injury. Looking at the 2011 MAC schedule its pretty clear that its Ohio's division to win with everyone else in the East taking a major hit in the offseason. The Ohio program is also at that tipping point talentwise after 7 years of program building by Solich where most of this league is simply not going to be able to compete. We aren't on the level of Boise or TCU but the program is now pretty much on the level of Fresno or Nevada where a winning season out of a non-BCS conference is a lock.

Kicked off your own msg board, your football team is nothing, your hoops team is done, and you wear a boa.

Very impressive resume.

For the record, our basketball team is still playing and when was the last time that you beat us in football.

Dick.

I went to Fieldhouse for the first time last month. That place seriously sucked. $10 cover, which I luckily didn't have to pay because my friend knew a bouncer. What do you get for that money? Overpriced drinks, lousy music, and unattractive women.

Now that I know you hang out there it all makes sense to me.

On another note, I was with a friend who goes to Penn the other weekend and we got a cab from University City to Old City. The driver lamented that he hates when Penn students leave (they were on spring break at the time) because they are pleasant and tip well, unlike Temple students which he claimed "are rude and never tip."

Sounds about right to me.

Well obviously, I stand corrected. Apparently Monroe does like to brag about the CIT. Munny, honey.... CIT, NIT and SSI are just another means to squeeze more dollars out of the uneducated public. Do you boast about sales and gas tax too?

If the Fieldhouse or any local Philly Pub can bleed $10 out of tourists, good on them. There was no cover and it was a delightful packed house. Humphrey didnt mention any Bobcat fans but of course, the CIT wouldnt have been nationally televised on this planet.

If we are talking about mutual experiences, my weary entourage dropped into the Court Diner when we arrived last time "]["emple played in Athens. The waitress asked us why we would drive through the night to come there. After telling her she said (and I do quote) "This place sucks, can I leave with you?"  Judging by their website pic, even the Court Diner packs in the "]["emple fans...

(Here I would post of Court St Diners clad in cherry and white but your Administrator has restricted my use of pictures. I understand Admins for I grew up with ONE before HE realized it was a trivial and listless existence. HE thought he was important governing HIS little patch of 0's and 1's fiefdom but alas, there was no money or prestige in it. Just HIS little power trip which extended to the masses on a forum in which HE thought HE had the authority to tell them what they could and could not read. HE is now a subway toll taker, spending 5 days, 40 hours, 50 weeks in a bullet resistant aquarium making sure the shrapnel amounts to the fare....
