We need a guy like this....91 tds his senior year in high school...And did OU recruit him??

Might have sent him a letter....but not an offer.....Troy and Eastern Kentucky was about it.

But this is the kind of guy that I was talkin about.....barely 6 feet tall....4.8ish forty....he doesn't look like a D1 QB....he's just a winner....here's what one writer thought about him in high school:

As impressive as the yardage and touchdowns are, perhaps the
most startling thing about Robinson's year is the lack of mistakes.
He completed nearly 74 percent of his passes and threw just four
interceptions in 520 pass attempts, none of them in the team's
final 10 games.

Just win baby.

We need a guy who can THROW THE BALL period. Exactly like this dude. I've completely given up on the "he can beat you with his feet" malarkey. It's more of a nice-to-have but not a requirement. After seeing this guy ruin my first ever trip to the big easy, I'm a changed man.

We keep recruiting guys that can do "both" but in reality are just athletes that can kinda throw the ball (see Tettleton, Snyder, Bates, Everson, Bell). If a QB can ACTUALLY do both then guess what, he won't be coming here.

At a minimum, we should have at least one guy on the roster like this. A gunslinger who can barely move. We've already got athletes like Brazill, Dunlop, Busey and a cast of others. We need someone who can GET THEM THE BALL.

Sorry for the caps, :)

Those are good points Paul.

Hey Bobcatbob,

I'm not really into denigrating folks I don't know. I just wanted to support my Oklahoma guys who've chosen to play ball at Ohio. I gather you're not real tight with your Tulsa relatives?
That backward spelling thing was really cool, though....

E,

I'm not speaking for Bob, but I don't think any offense was intended. How non-Bobcats refer to us is a touchy subject, mostly because half the time you tell someone you went to "Ohio", they say, "Oh yeah? So what do you think about Terrell Pryor?" This despite the fact that we actually had to get a court order telling osu that they can't call themselves "Ohio" (hence, the "THE," which was the next best way for them to satisfy their pretentions). To differentiate in casual conversation in Ohio, you have to refer to the two schools as "OU" and "osu". You're gonna catch flack on this board if you refer to Oklahoma as "OU" as it's just an especially sore spot.

Anyhoo, so what are your insights on Tettleton from Norman? You have probably figured out that our QB uncertainty is the big question for the team. Can he be a mistake-free player?

Tyler Throws a good ball and the offensive players like that he rarely makes mistake with the ball ie INTS...Ive also heard that many are impressed with Kyle Snyder but neither has much game action and they are a little on the short side to see every route may be a chore. Coach Solich may have to play Bates more than people think because he is a threat to go the distance and even if his passes are not accurate you may actually have him drop a few over the top due to the defense coming up to stop his run ability. I dont think any of the freshmen will play that would be a big waste.

Guys,

I'm new to the board here. I'm an OU grad (Oklahoma), but I'm an Ohio fan now that Beau Blankenship is there).
I don't know anything about the RB's you have, but the stud you got from Norman,Ok isn't Tettleton. He may develop into a great qb; time will tell, but if Solich is on his game, he'll have Blankenship on the field early and often.

Go Bobcats!

E

Completely agree Big E...I can't wait to see Beau on the field!  It's pretty clear he was a casualty of the far too common new Coach ego issue after Chizic left Iowa State.

Judging from the film (and commentary / assessments)  I've seen I think he's the answer we've been looking for in the backfield since the Brinker & Mcrae days!

I agree with those who highly value the ability to avoid mistakes.  Add in the ability to rise to big moments and you have what we need.

C Money,

Thanks for the info on the OU issue.

Tettleton was a tremendous athlete on a team that rolled through most of his (and Blankenship's senior season) without a hitch until the playoffs.
However, he was never called upon to carry that team on his shoulders. He could pass when needed but I never felt he was big enough to be a pocket passer. I really hope he proves me wrong for you guys.  I think if he gets comfortable in your system, he'll be good; how good, I'm not sure.

Bobcat36,

What people around here know is Bob Stoops let one get away. We had so many backs, Stoops couldn't offer him, so when I-State offered, he jumped. He ended up with some bad luck injuries and I-State had a really good running back in front of him.  If he stays injury free, you're gonna like what you see.

All signs indicate that Donte Harden will the man at the RB position this year. (From qoutes from Albin) I think this is a good choice with his ability and experience. I expect next year will be split between Blank and Boykins.

Harden is a very good back, when he's healthy. Unfortunately he has had trouble with both shoulders, I believe. The guys behind him may be important this fall, if he injures one again.

And don't sleep on Dallas Brown. He could be an excellent change-of-pace back this season. Definitely the fastest and shiftiest guy we have.

Agree on all counts...It sure is nice to have a stable for a change!

There'll be no rest for opposing D's this year (and not just due to the no huddle)...

I'd really like to see Dallas win the kick / punt return duties full time...I agree he's got the moves and think he has the durability.  It scares the hell out of me to think about Brazill taking those hits again after everything he's been through...

Completely agree on Brown taking kickoffs...though maybe still Brazill on punts? Or perhaps give it to Travis Carrie again? But definitely NO HARDEN on kickoffs. We need him as our every down back and he's not great at it anyhow.

But I think it would be hard to keep Brazill away from punt duties. Two years ago he was such a game breaker there but I can understand your hesitancy.

My prediction: Brazill is on punts. If he does what he did 2 years ago, he's a guaranteed draft pick, and the conventional wisdom is draft picks boost recruiting.
