I cannot prove it. The point is moot anyway because your assertion is the MAC could have forced Temple to bring its basketball program to the MAC. That would have never happened. Although I am a stronger advocate of Temple FB than BB, I would have preferred TU drop FB than keep FB alive by forcing BB to join the MAC.

Dont get upset, TU cannot sustain a BB Program in a conference whose closest opponents are 5 hr car ride away. We have a long standing historical commitment to playing the other 4 Philly area college programs as well. TU couldnt do that and play in the MAC.

Around the same time as the MAC deal was being brokered, TU got a BB commitment from an Ohio native player w MAC offers, Deshone Kirkendoll. He was not an A10 starter and left the team in 2 years. Temple could not compete with Nova, St Joe or LaSalle for Philly's top area players playing in the MAC. Just like no other MAC team can either.

Its just that simple. Temple will NEVER play basketball in the MAC. Never.

ps Since many readers like to find anti-Temple commentary, might as well inform you guys Bleacher Report's main contributor is a dye-in-the-wool Nova fan who goes out of his way to ridicule the Owls. In this doc, BR ranks Temple as having the worst helmet in all of 1A

They absolutely could.

And there have been players with power conference offers that couldn't cut it in the MAC.

Its just that simple. Temple will most likely not play basketball in the MAC. It's improbable.

Fixed.

What does that have to do with the Big 5?

Not that you've paid attention, but the problem for the MAC hasn't been a lack of at-large teams but the fact any team good enough for such a bid wins the conference tournament.  They don't get upset.

Temple BB cant commit to a schedule that would include the MAC and the BIg 5 with only one team, Villanova, historically being a team with less than a 50RPI. Its pretty clear when I read MAC BB opinions, people dont get the importance of consistentlyb playing teams with a very high RPI......thats why it seems so few understand why it was very beneficial to the MAC to have Temple commit is mens and womens basketball team to 4-5 MAC games every year. Believe me, this hurts our ranking and also our ability to schedule more enticing home and away BB games. Stop thinking the MAC is the only side that gave anything up.

Seriously, this is like banging one's head against the wall...

And stop putting words in my brain.  I never once suggested that.

And I'm calling shenanigans.  St. Joe's, while down right now, is often a very good team (and sometimes better than Villanova).  And you cry poor with the schedule, but in the past few years, you've played TAMU, Georgetown, Cal, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Clemson, Tenn, and Duke.  I daresay your OOC schedule would be just fine in this hypothetical.

Actually, I like to crush dreams.

I visit this thread to extinguish any thoughts Bobcat fans may have that they will one day play in a conference with the 6th winningest Basketball Program in history.

Name one Temple grad who was a better  or more famous athlete than Mike Schmidt?

And don't say Bill Cosby....and don't say I live in Philly but have never heard of Mike Schmidt?

Mike Schmidt, as an alum of Ohio U, is probably the most comprehensible reason Temple should join the MAC produced on this thread. The other theories are even more ridiculous...

This guy is right. Temple and UMass will not join the MAC in hoops. Ever.

Mike Schmidt was 30 years ago, bout time we updated our focal point athlete. Especially when he was out of baseball before our current crop of athletes was even born.

That would explain your life and the fabulous MAC success of temples football.  Tell me again how many MAC teams with winning records your football team, allegedly, has beaten.

You are not a normal person.

We may now expect the temples person to post a really strange picture in a vain attempt to communicate something..anything.

Let me summarize this thread so far:

TEMPLE = THE NEW OXFORD TECH.

MH55, JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T GET IT, THAT'S NOT A COMPLIMENT.

YES, I'M SHOUTING, BECAUSE YOU ARE DEAF, TOO!  YOU ARE DUMB, ALSO, BUT NOT IN THE USUAL SENSE OF THE WORD WHEN WE SPEAK OF THE DEAF AND DUMB.  YOU ARE JUST DUMB, DUMB AS IN STUPID, BECAUSE UNFORTUNATELY YOU CAN TALK . . . AFTER A FASHION.

The above is a meaningless ad hominem statement, but boy did it feel good making it, so it must have some merit.

Sure Munny Honey, 10/21/80, I was there. Do you think Michael Jack is waving to all the unemployables he left behind in Athens for triumphant glory he was to relish in Philadelphia ?
