I showed up at the Alzheimer's walk in L.A. yesterday in my Ohio Football hoodie.  A work acquaintance of my g.f. sees it and the following conversation ensues:

'Are you from Ohio?'  (She clearly has her m.o.!)    Yes, I am.
'What part?'    Cleveland.
'What's your last name.'     Slavin.
'Do you know (names a person).'    Yes, She's my step-sister.
'She was the first person I met when I arrived on campus at columbus a&m..'

What are the odds?!

Just to be clear, are you asking us the odds of a female striking up a conversation with you, because I'd be afraid to say.

If you're asking about the coincidence, I'd say it's pretty high.  A good friend of mine espouses the theory that there are really only 1,000 people in the world and those you haven't met yet, you will.
