There seems to be some confusion around players that will be returning, players that may have eligibility left, and those that are transferring.
With our success this year and some key O guys returning it would be helpful to see the list of returning guys.
Those that were in this year's recruiting class seem to be heavily on the D side.

Great news about Houston. Happy to have him back. This defense will need every vet it could retain. It is amusing though that this kind of announcement needs an essay and graphic design edit. My lawn's been trampled.

I believe he does. Judging by him not declaring for the NFL or transferring at this point, I think it's safe to say he will be back.

2018: RS
2019: Played in 13 games, starting 7
2020: COVID
2021: Did not play... ? Medical RS?
2022: 96 tackles

If that's the case then I understand why Cannon Blauser and Kyle Kelly would transfer to maybe find a starting spot somewhere else.

The 2023 roster is out with some great news about returning players.

Here are a few that we were unsure about but who are returning:

LBers-Houston and Thompson

DL-Mathews-Bonner-Watkins

OL-Danneker

WR-Walton

DB-Birchette

We also picked up linebacker Kadin Schmitz who was an original Navy commit.

I know a lot can still change but it's very promising with a lot of those big names still on the roster at nearly every position. DL is the most concerning and at the Safety position losing Drake, Zack Sanders and Alvin Floyd.

We don't have a kicker listed on the roster but it looks like we just got a commit (Gianna Spetic) fro NDCL. Hopefully we can get some insurance at that position since Vandenberg is no longer listed on the roster.

I wondered why we would offer another kicker after Gianna.

Vandenberg being off the roster answers that.

Not sure who fills the NT spot. We lost the top 3 (Caesar, McCracken, Daxon). Also, need some depth at LB with the departures of Blauser and K. Kelly. There's only 6 LB's listed on the roster. I guess maybe Schmitz or one of the Freshman.

I think Mathews played as well as anyone on the interior and he returns.

We also have some big body guys who need to step up,

True freshman Gorman may surprise.

Wiglusz and Allison still around? The offense should really cook.

I like Allison but Sieh has to be the starter.

Bangura might be the front runner. But it'd be nice to go into the season with a former starter as backup rather than 2 or 3 walkons. It would also be nice to have two different styles of ball carriers in Bangura and Allison.

If things remain as it currently stands, the WR room is absolutely stacked.

Wiglusz, Cross, Jones as starters, Tyler Walton is back this year, Wilburn, Rhone & R. Harris can push for time. There's the Citadel transfer and potentially a highly touted WR in Chase Hendricks.

Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

We have no idea who will be around in the fall. There’s still another transfer portal window after spring ball
So we have to cross our fingers that most of these guys stay, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

- Unless Wiglusz was asked to come back to Ohio State - Hartline spoke highly of him numerous times last season, MH2 and Egbuka were in Athens, as well - I think he's a safe bet to stay. Him and Kurtis are like poetry. His best chance at getting and staying noticed is to be the WR1 in an explosive offense and not just someone everyone loves because he works hard as WR5.

- Super excited about Hendricks.

- Jacoby is also WR1 material, I can see him potentially going home, but if he hasn't already... who knows.

- Miles + Walton are super seniors. If Jacoby was to move on, I think Miles and Walton can pick up that production.

- Will be interesting to see where this kid from the Citadel fits in this season? (If he does)

Not only is wide receiver stacked, but every tight end returns plus the addition of the 6'7'' guy from Youngstown State.

I wonder how/if Quintell Quinn will be used next year. Will he return to linebacker or remain a listed running back. It seems now the depth is needed more at linebacker.
