I personally was rooting for him to go to say...Pepperdine or Hawaii. Congratulations and Best Wishes to Jason.

Very unfortunate.  As was his salary, per The Post.

No kidding!

I'd say boo for heading to the Terd but who can blame him with a salary like that....

Let's face it, the salaries in the MAC stink at so many levels, it's surprising we can keep anybody who's any good.  Makes me wonder how long we'll keep Russ.

As one in the field of journalism, I'm not surprised at that salary in a similar field.

Jason did a good job, though, and I wish him luck.

There's been a bit of a recent "brain drain" in the athletic department lately. Sadly, we can't seem to keep the best and brightest at home. But, given the current climate, it's understandable that we can't add staff positions or increase salaries.

All:

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for your well wishes and friendship during my four years in Athens. I've had the opportunity to meet so many of you, either at games or at various Bobcat Caravan stops, and it has truly been a pleasure.

One of the things I am most proud of is the relationship that myself, Evan Shaw and Russ Eisenstein have been able to cultivate with fans/donors/alumni/parents/former student-athletes through this forum. At alot of schools, the relationship between fan forums and athletic department administration is tenuous, but I think BobcatAttack has proven that a transparent approach on the part of the administration goes a long way. As I've done with NCSU, the Big South and Marist, I'll continue to check in here from time to time and wish the best to all of you.

Thanks again!

Welcome to MU.

In addition, we just received a $5 Million donation for the fund to build some new athletic facilities and a research center. The state of WV will match the amount so the donation will turn into $10 Million.

Donation by a self made billionaire in big coal. That is crazy to think someone could make that much money in coal these days though I suspect that he already had significant family money to the point where he could get his career going. By law, the Cline Foundation to maintain its status as a foundation (tax shelter) has to distribute 5% of its net value to philantrophy hence why you the money going anywhere it can in the state of West Virginia from hospitals to univerisites.

Jason. You will be missed, as you did a great job. The transparency you, and the Athletic Department have shown in your time here made for a great relationship between fans, forums, and Athletic Department unlike what exists most anywhere eilse. Good luck to you with the Terd, and wherever else you end up.

Which doesn't appear to include a baseball field. How long are you guys going to let Hamrick slide by on that unkept promise?

He'll definitely be missed, and he certainly surpassed the competence level of any of his predecessors. But with Jason and Drake both having flown the coop, I've lost my inside connections for the baseball lucky program!

All the best in Huntington...once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!

MU wants to build an on campus baseball stadium, but can't secure a large enough property to build the estimated $5 million project. In the mean time, The Herd plays their conference games a one hour drive from campus in a new minor league park in Charleston. I am not a fan of college baseball and wish we could drop the sport, but it is a requirement for CUSA membership. The only colleges I believe that make a profit on baseball are in the deep south and west coast? I would rather take the money for the baseball stadium and use the money to help build a new basketball arena.

The lack of a stadium, obviously, hurts a baseball program. Especially one trying to compete with southern schools within CUSA.

I wasn't discussing. I was merely pointing out that, despite the millions in funding that's going to develop "athletic facilities", and despite their AD's continuous assertions that a baseball stadium is at the top of his priority list, Marshall still can't figure out how to get basic sports facilities and instead has to play games either (a) at the local YMCA or (b) an hour away in Mountaineer country, so coming over here to gloat that Marshall has received said funding isn't really the wisest action.

Good luck, Jason.  You are going from my favorite school to my second favorite school.  Huntington is a good town and there are lots of good folks at Marshall.  Best of luck with the Herd.

Go Marshall!
GO OHIO!
