I told my wife last night that with the new name of the bowl game played in Boise, there was no way I could miss the opportunity to attend if and when Ohio is invited to play.

I got "that" look.

I might have to try that one on my wife, although I don't think I'd expect it to go any better.

From the MAC website's press release: Four of the top five potato-consuming states are represented by the WAC and MAC conferences: New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

People in Ohio love potatos, so therefore, they would love to go to this bowl game, right?

Potatoes at the concession stand! Mashed, scalloped, baked, fries, chips -- sell it all!

What if the stadium has an exclusive contract with Washington Potatoes?

Golly, that would be unprecedented!

I love potatoes, and you simply can't beat an Idaho potato.

A mashed potato stand at the tailgate area would surely attract droves of bobcatattackers.

I don't see how that would be different from the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl that sold only Hungry Howie's pizza.

More ideas:

- The mascot is a giant plush potato named Spud along with a smaller version of the mascot named Half Baked.

- Dan Quayle would be the honorary coin tosser.

- The winner would receive a four foot long bronzed masher as a trophy.

- Amish people would work the concession stands, producing the potato foodstuff.

- The ball would be referred to as TatoSkin at all times during the national broadcast.

The fans should find this a-pealing.

The whole point of bowl games is more butts in seats and eyes on the tube.  With potatoes, you're halfway there.

How about getting a beer company as a co-sponsor?  It could then be the "Spuds and Suds Bowl."
